Thanks fidget, just waiting for a spare few minutes and ill give it go.
Verdun, just seen the biggest slug in FILs garden, peachy orange colour, the dog must have found it tasty as it had disappeared a few mins later (coat...get...ok)...
OH made a chicken pie for supper today (under supervision and with rough puff pastry I'd made a couple of weeks ago and put in the freezer). It was superb and I'm very stuffed!
While I was picking the runner beans to go with the pie, I saw something unusual amongst the foliage ............... a large round shape ................. yet another branch of the monstrous rampaging squash has reached into the runner beans and yes - we have a squash - at the moment it's about the size of a large coconut (but round). I don't suppose it'll have time to ripen, but you never know .......... watch this space!
Heard earlier that Pa was taken to hospital to get a problem with his catheter sorted out. Brother phoned the hospital and tried to find out whether he was being admitted or was he all sorted and being sent back - all the hospital could say was that there was no person by that name in the hospital at the moment - they could not say whether he had been and gone, or whether he was waiting in an ambulance queue. Brother is currently driving up the A12 to visit him, wherever he is.
Anyone seen a nearly 95 year old with a RAF moustache on a hospital trolley anywhere?
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Just been down to look at the 'pumpkin patch' ( prompted by dove), err well, I have lots of leaves, and three pumpkins - almost the size of a plum - and not at all round - hmmm, me thinks they may price a bit tricky to carve if they dont get a wriggle on!!!
Always said I dont grow food, and strictly speaking its not food, just for Halloween.
Thanks Mrs G. It's usually me that's chasing across country when he gets taken to hospital, but as I can't drive at the moment Bro has had to abandon agri-business for the moment and do the parent stuff.
Bro has just phoned - the hospital still don't know where he is - they're doing a check of some places where he might be and will ring Bro back! Well, as the poor chap can't walk, he's wherever they've put him!!!!!!!!!

There's no way he's disappeared Dove. Just the right hand not knowing what the left is doing (sorry - really bad analogy atm) MrsG is right about it being frustrating. I'm sure you would have leapt into your car the minute you heard but you will hear something very soon. Your brother will get to the bottom of it. Hugs.
Dove - just can't find the words !!!!!!!!! Best I can come up with is 'unbelievable'.
Not been around, missed why you can't drive, was it to do with you slipping/falling a while ago, there's some memory lurking somewhere...just outside your door ?
Dove - very irritating - and rather worrying that hospitals can lose people so easily
Yvie - I'm very concerned about your OH's interests if that's what he thought was a flowering plant...
Lesley - gotta get a pond
Had a busy day and had no time after work for anything outside apart from watching the magpies have their umpteenth bath. They're very keen on the new washing facilities!
We have now been promised rain overnight...I need it for the front grass because I did a little weed and feed on Friday and Saturday's rain never happened. I'm having next week off work - any bets as to how wet it'll be then?
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I like the idea of purple leaved beech alternating with yellowy lime leaved beech (both columnar varieties). Will have to find out how far apart to space them.
What do you think?
I've seen them in Gc a few months ago but will wait for new stock to come in.
Not sure where to put the liriodendron and amelanchier I've already bought

I think I've finally decided on my tree dilemma.
