Never known a spell of such dry weather. In the past few months, the days we've had rain have been rare, and it was only getting into the top inch or two of soil
I'll take the Amelanchier off your hands MrsG I love them.
I've seen hedges done like that - green/purple alternating - is that what you're doing?
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Its ok fairy, it might be tight, but ill squeeze it in somwhere! As for the hedge, yes i suppose I am but as a high rise hedge to restore my privacy and sanity after new neighbours cut everything down! Dya think it'll look ok?
I think I'd agree with Verd and go for all purple but it depends on the effect you want. A hedge on it's own can be quite striking, but you might lose the 'two tone' impact if you have other planting in front and round it. Purple beech is very classy

I had a conversation the other night with OH about microchipping. We do it with dogs, wouldnt it be a good idea to do it to all kids at birth.? Then if they got lost and couldnt remember who they are, you can send them home. He settled on, give them an iphone with a tracker in. All right until they lose the iphone.
Mum told me a little story about last time they went to Disneyland. Dad came out of the toilets with his flies undone. He couldn't find the tag to pull up the zip. So they went around the corner and mum was on her knees trying to find the zip pull, in front of dad. Only trouble was the quiet corner was the staff entrance. Picture mickey mouse watching a 75 year old on her knees , fiddling with the fly of a 77 year old man.
All perfectly innocent.
Now he has a piece of string attached to make it easier to pull up.
