  • Has Gardenrs World gone mad ?
Toby was an excelent presenter. The comradery between the team was a joy to watch. The gardening information excellent and cookery too !! Lets have him back on our screens again soon please. A programme of his own would be wonderful.
  • As much as I am sure Toby Buckland and Alys Flower are nice people they bored me as presenters of GW and I usually went to sleep after a busy week at work. Toby was too much like Alan Titchmarsh - knew his stuff but rather smug in their style. Monty is far more straightforward. But there will never be another Geoff Hamilton who was definitely the best
  • Oh dear me. Cannot believe the BBC has gone back to patronising and superior Monty Don and the old clique of presenters that messed things up in the first place. Toby and Alys were/are fresh and interesting, kicked out just when getting into their stride. Why go backwards? Pathetic and cruel decision.
  • This is the firsrt time I have logged onto a blog and I couldn't believe the vicious nature of some of the comments about presenters. We all have our favourites but do we have to be so rude and hurtful about those we don't like?
I feel quite shocked and upset by it all. I only hope the presenters have very thick skins.
  • I too hope they have thick skins with the BBC being thick enough to sack Toby for no good reason.

I am sure that what you see as rude comments are straight from the anger that people feel about a good man, Toby, being removed for no real reason and replaced by someone less qualified. Such ridiculous behaviour by the producers is bound to annoy his loyal fans.
  • Forgot to add that people who set themselves up as stars are bound to be scrutinised by the public - it goes with the large salary and the very posh garden budget that monty will get when he ousts Toby.
For real rudeness you should try some of the awful tabloid press headlines.
  • Whilst it is good to be coming from a real garden as well as having Monty back, i feel rather sad for Toby and Alys and would prefer these to Rachel due to their experience and approach to gardening. Unless they are involved in other projects I don't think this is a very good move by the BBC as people were just getting used to the line up.
  • A ridiculous move by the programme editors -fancy getting rid of such a great guy as Toby in favour of someone who is merely better known. I do hope that Toby finds a fantastic job - whatever he does he will always be more knowledgable and a better gardener than monty.
I am giving up Gw and will wait to see Toby on a sensible programme , not just one that has a c list celeb waving a spade about. The beeb are idiots to mess this programme about.
  • I am so sad that Toby and Alys will not be on and I will miss them both. I found monty very stuffy ans do not like his style so I will not be enjoying the programme any more.

Why can't they have a programme of their own? I would enjoy that .As it is I will enjoy Carols programmes and then give up tv gardens as I can not face a summer of the so boring montey .
  • I too feel for both Toby and Alys but having read some of the comments above I can't believe some of the vile things said about Monty. Don't blame him for all of this, vent your anger on those to blame, the producers and decision makers at the BBC!!
Good luck to Monty on his return and the very best of luck to both Toby and Alys, you deserved to be treat better than this!!
