  • Monty coming back has made my day! In my opinion he brought something special to Gardeners World and I think made gardening exciting even to younger people. I am looking forward to seeing what he has been achieving in his own garden. Carol Klein has authority and am relieved she will still be in GW. She is the propagating Queen!
  • Oh dear! That's my Friday night ruined! I have watched Gardener's World since I don't know when! As soon as that theme music started it was like a glimpse of the promise of spring and summer to come! Geoff Hamilton was the best, closely followed by Alan T. They took account of the fact that the programme was for all gardening abilities and for those that were new to it! Old and new there was always something to learn! But then along came Monty! A perfectly charming man and has come across as so in any interview he has done! I'm sure he is a perfectly good gardener but I never felt he was 'one of us'!So I stopped watching gardener's World'! I was sorry when Monty had to stop through illness but thought I would give 'the new chap' a go! And I'm glad I did - Toby was great, in touch with what the programme should be about, encouraging and supporting the new gardeners but also something for the more experienced! Loved Alys as well! I could not believe the negative comments just before the start of the last series! Surely Gardener's World IS for all abilities and does have to get back to basics? Seems like the Horticultural snobs that invade the Garden shows are now trying to take over the TV! I for one will no longer be watching Gardener's World I am sorry to say!
  • I must say this is not a step backwards but a return to great programming .
Toby was patronising The gardening was absolute beginers and I have not watched the program this year I am looking forward to watching again
  • I am so pleased and really excited that Monty Don is returning. I'd completely given up watching the show after he left and it will be great to have the show set in his own real garden - I can't wait.

  • Oh how brilliant!!! we are so pleased that Monty will be back.
  • It is great to see Monty is returning- he has a special wisdom in helping and inspiring young/old Gardeners. I am sorry to see Toby is going out he was also a very enthusiastic Gardner. Please keep Alys and Carol in these two are great too! BBC,please..please keep the one hour programme- this is one of your best programme!
  • Well what a shock like a lot of posters have asked what will happen to Greenacre give it to Alys and A. N. Other to give us two programs a week. I'm new to veg growing and have been reading up with A.T. but to see it practical will be also good.
A lot of comments about Rachel don't forget she used to be on before and helps to present Chelsea and to be honest that is about her lot not down to earth getting hands dirty. There are a lot of people that could take her place Pippa for one although its veg again, so I don't know.
After watching G.W. since the 70s we seam to have had more changes in the last 10 years than we need and I only hope that the Producers read the posts and analysis of them be taken as to for and against or all of us has just vented there spleen for nothing.
  • fantastic news, monty inspired me to grow vegtables, years ago, on some channel four programme, i enjoyed him fronting gardeners world, toby's a nice bloke and very good presenter, but great that monty's returning to the programme, happy christmas all
