I only just heard the great news Monty is back. Toby is knowledgeable but very boring, and,he and the Birmingham garden dreary and uninspiring. I had stopped watching an shall now very happily watch again. I've really missed it. Alice is ok and I hope she continues on our screens.
The beeb is untrustworthy. Loads of us enjoyed Toby and Alys and now you have gone and put that dreary, boring old monty back. Dull, dull, dull and enough to make me turn off GW.I prefer to learn from experts not people who are much less educated in the subject. monty had his day and should have left it at that. Instead the beeb has once again pandered to the dim whims of the middle aged.
Only just become aware of the news of the demise of Toby and Alys and its really disappointing, what a regressive step, out with the young and back with the old faces, doesn't Monty get enough outlets for his talents? curtailed only be him almost working himself to death. Always thought I detected and air of resentment towards Toby from some of his fellow presenters.Poor show Gardeners World, and commiserations to Toby and Alys.
Can't stand monty and I will not be watching GW any more. What ever are the BBC doing spoiling a good programme and dragging back monty when Toby and Alys were so good. They have both taught me loads and I will miss them both. Obviously the Gw is not for the young. That said even my Mum says she will not be tuning in again as she does not find monty to be any good and soooooooooo dull too.
Great news to have Monty back steady educated and great personality looking forward to seeing the new series from his home. Have not watched for a while felt it was more for beginners than the experinced gardener.
Poor old BBC just can't get anythin right - they leave that awful Jonathan Ross and Wogan on for decades past their sell-by date, then dump the likeable Toby and Alys. Hopeless.
How can anyone say that monty is educated - Toby is a properly qualified gardener and monty is an excostume jeweller who has dabbled in a garden. Why should my licence fee go on revamping his garden again?. When I was at college he was something of a laughing stock with our garden tutors as he said such loopy things. If that is what GW viewers want then fine but I prefer to get my garden learning from someone who is properly trained and not just a fancy front man. Ishall tune in again when I can see Toby and Alys again. Why should beginner gardeners not get a seperate programme? Leave Monty for the fogies.
Well that is it. No more GW for me. If I wanted old advice I would dig out Dads Percy Thrower book. Why would any programme go back to an old presenter - it never works. Toby is bright, keen and well trained and his style was good. Going backwards is not for me so I will be giving it a miss.
