  • I am pleased that Monty has returned to good health, but I am not sure it is the best move to bring him back as the main presenter, but only time will tell. I do however feel the programme is better suited to being presented from the main Presenters Garden as with A.T., P.T. to name two. There was no hint at the end of the last series that Greenacre was to be scrapped, and I think we all have a right to know what will happen to it as I was our License fee that funded the project in the first place.
  • Well disappointed. I agree with the comments about Monty Don being dour, pompous and sanctimonious. I always felt talked down to by him, and he makes gardening look like a penance, all that manic digging and puffing and panting. So worthy and no fun. AT was not afraid to crack a joke and Toby was relaxing into a similar role, such a pleasant chap once he was allowed to get on with gardening. It feels like losing a friend. Does this mean we won't be visiting Glebe Cottage? I like Carol best so will probably still watch but fast forward through boring MD.
  • What a disgrace getting rid of Toby and Alice - and what about all the money the BBC spent buying Greenacre and all the buildings etc??
  • I am delighted that Monty is coming back to Gardeners World. Toby was not right for the program and I lost interest as he seemed to be talking to novice gardeners not us oldies.
  • FANTASTIC NEWS! I havn't watched Gardeners' World for ages (since Monty left) as it just wasn't the same. To see around his garden too will be just brilliant. This has made my Christmas!
  • what about that new garden which they've been working on? I do hope this is used for something useful?
  • Interesting reading the comments! Just goes to show you can't please all the people...I really liked Toby's style and the camaraderie with Joe. Also loved/coveted Carol's garden! Not sure if the new line up doesn't just sound like a producer's dream team.
  • If there absolutely had to be a change (and I don't agree that there did) why not the universally popular Chris Beardshaw? Never cared for MD much, too earnest, and don't relish seeing him swanning about in his copious garden. I think it probably a case of who you know rather that what you know.
  • Very surprised at the mixed comments considering the negative public reaction when Toby started presenting GW!! Personally, I think its brilliat to have Monty back - can't wait.
  • Even here in Belgium we missed Monty: very very glad he's back and in good healh!
