I can think of no reason GW couldn't just archive the forum. I often look back on my own questions, because I forget things and don't want to keep asking the same question every year. I can't think of anything in particular, but I will especially miss the Daily Wildlife & Close Up of Plants threads, there are some magnificent photos there. I hope GC members don't feel too overwhelmed by 'the exodus', although a couple of people seem to think we're not nice to newbies - which I never thought was the case, so I hope we don't put people off us. I never found it 'cliquéy' here, I just noticed a lot of people knew each other well from years of chatting, meeting, etc.
Well, they are losing another real-life magazine subscriber- my lovely sister-in-law, who fully enters into my horror at their destruction of this precious resource.
Site traffic will plummet anyway when people no longer have a reason to come. They really are doing a Ratner.
2. Earlier some of you were trying to contact Catherine
Mansley but it said her account had been deleted when you clicked on her
name.
She may still be active on the site - click
on her avatar (on the discussions page) to take you to her page and try
messaging her from there. It shows that she
was recently 9.22am today.
Very good sleuthing! 😉 I see she was last here at 17.29 today. I think it would be worth messaging here to see if the forum could be saved as a "read only" resource. Not all of it, of course, but some of the specialist threads or those that answer qus that frequently crop up. Could we have a thread here with suggestions for her to consider maybe? Of course, the decision is probably not hers to take, and time is short as presumably she will not be back at her desk till Monday.
On 13th March RMS Gardeners' World Forum struck an iceberg.
On 20th March the last of her lifeboats will be launched.
On 27th March she will brake apart and sink to the bottom of the ocean, taking all on board with her. Two hours later the British passenger ship Gardeners' Corner will come to the lifeboats aid, taking survivors onboard.
God bless RMSGardeners' World Forum, and all who sail in her.
@Busy-Lizzie I think you can put your GW name in your signature on GC. However, it looks like editing your signature may need to be done on a windows device. Someone please correct me if that’s wrong. I have not been able to find my signature on my iPad, but others have done it.
@Emerion you don't get the signature option straight away (not sure why) but it appears in your profile after you've been on the forum for a few days.

Hi @LunarSea, does the ability to post photos on your profile and add more information to your profile become available then too? I’m pleased to see your excellent photos continuing there!
One nice thing about most people keeping their GW log in names is I've already managed to block two fellows that I don't care to see over at the new place 🤣 very handy.

The only problem with doom that is if the forum archives do remain viewable, non of your posts would be there?
It got so repetitive and more and more adverts.
