I'd be there for a month -at least- with my photos  @Dovefromabove !
I can't get too excited about it all. The forum's closing - that's it, and if my 'stuff' is out there in the ether, or blown into oblivion, I really don't care that much.

I have all my photos on the 2 laptos and also backed up, so I'm happy with that. My memories, while I still have some memory, are more important to me  :)

I don't think DavidK has been on that forum for a while @star gaze lily. A great pity. He was very helpful to people with sweet peas, and with camera problems, and he was always very nice to me too. The irony is, he got in trouble with Nora, who was a mod at the time. If he'd been here in the last few years, he'd have been fine. She even contacted me because I'd stood up for him a bit.
That's how it is though. Verdun was helpful here to many people, but then caused trouble and went to that forum, but I believe he doesn't post now either. It's how it is with forums - folk disappear for various reasons.  :)

I have signed up to Gardeners Corner but don't know if I'll stick with it - it seems absolutely determined to send me emails whenever a thread is updated. I've turned off all the "and send me an email" checkboxes but they still come. I've now tried unwatching threads, but I'd really like to be able to watch them without getting emails. Maybe I'll use a throwaway email account ...

Have just realised though that if you click on the "New Posts" tab it is much more like the GW experience.

Just mark them as spam @Escarpment. That's what I've done. I hate loads of emails clogging up the box.
I never used notifications here either - I just looked to see who had commented on something I'd said so that I could respond, or bookmarked various threads I wanted to follow. I usually just followed the first couple of pages each day.
I sometimes missed responses  to me, but hey - that's how it is. I can't get too excited about it all :)

You'll get an alert [top right on the page] when someone responds or likes something you've said. You can then look at the relevant thread.

I was just about to say that, @Escarpment.   :)
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

@Fairygirl David was very kind to me too when I had some problems with a couple of posters. One being Brumble. I still wonder if Brumble and Verdon were the same person. Verdon was nice at times but then changed. There were some very unpleasant times years ago and many left. Thankfully its OK now.....and then they close the forum 🤦🏻‍♀️

David K was kind to me too. He sent me a couple of emails when he left GW. I was upset because Verdun had sent me some unkind PMs. Weird about Verdun, he seemed to change into someone else.

What is a screenshot and how do you do it? People keep talking about it. Maybe I'll ask Google.
All my photos are on my Laptop.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

I think ;) that you need to right-click on the screen you want to save.  Don't know if that works on all devices though!

I had the same problem, but just asked for help, and one of the mods assisted. They told me how to do it, but actually did it for me remotely!
If you tap on your name, a box will drop down. Go down the left hand list to Preferences and tap on that.
Then make sure the two boxes I’ve highlighted are not ticked. There seem to be other privacy settings to stop e mails that I am also trying out, but so far it seems to have stopped them. The mods have been so kind though, so just ask and someone will be happy to help. Everyone has been so welcoming. Good luck

Yes, with Windows 10 and Edge browser right click and pick screenshot and either capture an area or the whole page. But if it's an image most sites let you right click on the image and there is an option to "copy image", you can do the same with Firefox browser. I don't have Google Chrome on here at the moment (fell out with Google many years ago), but sure it will be the same.
