@nickoslesteros I'm sure the site could be captured, but as you have indicated, time is the problem. Ideally a conversion of the site to something like that used on GC Xenforo or Simple Machines (SMF), which I've seen used a lot. But even with a read-only version it would still need to be hosted, albeit at a small cost. It would be nice if there is a way to save certain threads for people locally?
I might be able to get a proportion of it in some browsable form. I have pulled 2.8GB of it so far, but I fear this is a drop in the ocean
It is really good of you to try @nickoslesteros . If you have any spare time, I understand that pre 2020 threads that @Marlorena made could be needed more than others. it might be that @Eustace may know more. Personally, I loved the clematis threads too. (Did not have time to study them enough).

Will you make an account at GC? Might be a good idea if you have not.

It looks as though the forum is closing down next Wednesday for new input. The cynical part of me thinks the lack of notice given to members was done to hamper our ability to do anything much about it.

Im going to create an account tomorrow. Good call.

My money on all of this is that someone at immediate media has come across the idea of using all of this data to train a LLM AI model (along side other content). With all of your work and brain power for years. It's the only thing that makes sense to me.

Hi, @nickoslesteros that is a really interesting thought. ......RE GC, HOPefully it won't take took long to get onto GC.
Sorry to witness the demise of the forum. 😥😥😥😡😡😡I am Spartacus

@Busy-Lizzie I think you can put your GW name in your signature on GC. However, it looks like editing your signature may need to be done on a windows device. Someone please correct me if that’s wrong. I have not been able to find my signature on my iPad, but others have done it.
@Emerion you don't get the signature option straight away (not sure why) but it appears in your profile after you've been on the forum for a few days.
    Aah! Thanks @LunarSea
Carmarthenshire (mild, wet, windy). Loam over shale, very slightly sloping, so free draining. Mildly acidic or neutral.

Hmm. There have been a few first/low-numbered posts that read as if they were written by AI, but I think we all thought they were spam and flagged them. Now I'm wondering if it was a trial and we upset someone.....
    How's that for a conspiracy theory? ;)

Now that is a thought! 🤔  How depressing to disgard the human element, when it means so much to those who created it all.

Speak for yourself @waterbutts. 🍑 I'm happy with my neat little bot.
Maybe we should make loads and loads of posts with wrong information to bggggr up the bot.

You just need to replace that song with another one of Neil's -

#I'm gonna give you 'til the morning comes
Till the morning comes, til the morning comes
I'm only waiting 'til the morning comes
Til the morning comes, 'til the morning comes....

    repeat, and repeat....

To be honest, the song that's coming to mind for me now, that suits how I feel about all this malarkey, is that one from last year [?] by Gayle - #abcdefu
The 'non radio friendly' version...  :D

Just a heads up, I sent two PM's yesterday and they haven't been delivered, so it seems Immediate Media have shut that side down already.
