I wouldn’t leave any private messaging to the last minute, just in case. I tried to open a message in my inbox this morning, and it wouldn’t display properly, I had to go into my profile page to access it. So I wouldn’t rely on everything working as it has been.
I can testify that everyone, especially the moderators, have been so kind and helpful on GC, so I’d encourage everyone to move over. Despite the layout looking quite intimidating to start with, even I am starting to find my way around, and enjoying it so far. I have kept my username from here ( if you are joining, put your username in the first box that asks for your name - but don’t worry if you get anything wrong, the moderators will be able to correct any rookie mistakes!)
Hopefully, this is just au revoir , and not goodbye!
I couldn't agree more re the mods on GC @Ergates . It seems no question is too stupid (and believe me l've tried 😊). To anyone feeling nervous or unsure about joining, l would say go for it. There is so much help available. I'm always reminded of this. (For younger viewers, wait right to the end 😁). https://youtu.be/XQr0ZLPhalA?feature=shared

So am I @Ergates! The moderators and existing members I have had contact with have all been extremely helpful, welcoming and friendly. Just like we gardeners like to be😊.
I've been lurking on this forum on and off for a few years now since I took an interest in gardening. I didn't join until recently because I didn't think I had much to contribute, being quite a new gardener, and all my most burning questions had already been answered in previous threads. My go to move when I had a more specific gardening question, was to write the question to Google followed by "forum", and a list of old GW threads would always pop up. So much faster to find an answer, and a much more thorough one, than reading one of the many advice articles repeating the same general information that may or may not be useful. I am gutted that probably won't be an option anymore. Such a waste!
I've never had a subscription to the magazine, I just buy it occasionally from the shop, but I won't be doing that again. Destroying an established community and a resource with what's essentially a week's notice is just appalling behaviour and not something I wish to support! They could have at least given people a month or two to preserve what they can, but I suppose they didn't want to deal with the complaints any longer than they have to. Shameful.
Thank you to everyone for sharing your knowledge and keeping me entertained, especially during the bleak winter months.
