Not doing any harm but I can’t help but feel sorry for the GC members. I wonder how we’d feel if a massive influx of people turned up here and began ‘resurrecting’ threads from where they’d come from.
Will never happen here now anyway.

There's so many threads, I still can't see a problem. If a thread is resurrected, you don't have to look at it. I think you can also list the threads you want to keep up with so if a bunch of people want to speak to each other on a single thread that isn't on your list so what?

@nickoslesteros I'm sure the site could be captured, but as you have indicated, time is the problem. Ideally a conversion of the site to something like that used on GC Xenforo or Simple Machines (SMF), which I've seen used a lot. But even with a read-only version it would still need to be hosted, albeit at a small cost. It would be nice if there is a way to save certain threads for people locally?
I might be able to get a proportion of it in some browsable form. I have pulled 2.8GB of it so far, but I fear this is a drop in the ocean
It is really good of you to try @nickoslesteros . If you have any spare time, I understand that pre 2020 threads that @Marlorena made could be needed more than others. it might be that @Eustace may know more. Personally, I loved the clematis threads too. (Did not have time to study them enough).

Will you make an account at GC? Might be a good idea if you have not.

It looks as though the forum is closing down next Wednesday for new input. The cynical part of me thinks the lack of notice given to members was done to hamper our ability to do anything much about it.

Sorry to witness the demise of the forum. 😥😥😥😡😡😡I am Spartacus

I regret opening a rezzers thread on there if you mean me,  have pointed out to the relevant people not to post on it. It was a panic impulse move following the announcement that this forum was closing. Indeed, it was not appropriate so hopefully it will disappear into the ether. Can’t find posters anyway.

I’m sure we all are / I am very grateful form the GC site for taking us in. I, unfortunately, don’t have a great deal of spare  time  to peruse the web and sites etc in great detail,(initially ) and like I said , it was a decision taken post haste as it was all such a huge shock. I thought I would lose my virtual friends. What is/are Stickies please!?  😳

I started an innocuous thread to see if I could manage it. I did. One or two
posts  and it faded away. Tried the identification thread too. that worked fine too but a bit embarrassing as I should've recognised the plant anyway

They're just threads that are made to stay at the top of the pile so you see them each time you go on the forum.
