I didn't mean you to do it @Eustace, ideas were asked for and I wondered if you could advise. Should have asked your permission first.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

No problem @Busy-Lizzie. That should have been a vital point discussed by the moderators/owners of this forum before the announcement. Alas, their decision is demolish and escape. How do we know that they may not use, say for e.g. @Marlorena's or @pitter-patter's lovely photos in their magazine. I would therefore, suggest that the peple who are worried about their IP should delete their contribution. Just my 2p worth.

And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth :)

I've not posted much on this forum, but it has been a valuable resource when I've needed an answer to a question. It'd be a shame to lose all the advice.

Sad to hear it's closing. I hope everyone manages to find a new "home"

I think that would be a great thing, if credited.

I very much doubt they will use any photos from the forum as the mags have specific specs and use professional photographers

I personally am not keen on the GW programme or magazine /culture whatsoever
The GW magazine does recycle content the more issues you read. I found after about 2yrs subscription everything got repeated and I was reading content I had read before.

Plus any tool reviews or recommendations felt more like adverts slanted towards those companies who paid to advertise in their magazine. A bit like the Caravan & Motorhome Club magazine, if you ever want to read a pile of trash then try and find a copy.

Re deleting contributions, it might be too late now. Thanks for trying to archive some of the roses thread, @Eustace

Anyone joining Gardeners Corner forum and struggling to carry over your Gardeners World username, the mods have posted over there saying to contact them and they will sort it for you. Some have had to join using a different username but the mods have soon changed it to their GW name (assuming it hasn't already been taken).

@Dovefromabove just seen you last post, didn't know about your son. But sounds like he is making good progress.
Very best wishes to you and your family.

    1. I understood that GW would retain copyright of photos that you’ve posted on the forum.

I saw a post on one of the threads – it was a screenshot of them saying this.  I went through all the pages on this particular thread but can’t see it here. It said that if you didn’t want them to use them you’d have to mark the photo / the post – but I can’t remember, it was something beginning with P.  Private?

But I don’t think that would hold, burying a one-off notice in a thread.  I think they’d have to email everyone to ensure that everyone had proper notice and also giving them enough time to go through all their images and protect them if they wanted to.

    Perhaps they removed the post?

Hopefully that means all your images are safe.

    2.  Earlier some of you were trying to contact Catherine Mansley but it said her account had been deleted when you clicked on her name.

She may still be active on the site - click on her avatar (on the discussions page) to take you to her page and try messaging her from there.  It shows that she was recently 9.22am today.

Thanks @pippip, very helpful of you. I will make a note. I am not going to take any action now, but wondered what the position might be. 🌙
