Afternoon all, I've been awake since 4.30 am so feeling a bit zombie like. Tummy felt a bit off after the curry last night, not sure why. Anyway, I had already planned to take some tools to be sharpened today at a local GC, my Felco's in particular were in dire need of attention. What the email hadn't stated was the opening time so I guessed at between 10-11 am but found I was at the end of the queue when I got there. The couple running the special day had started at 9 am. I wasn't the only one a bit disgruntled apparently. So with a 2 hour wait I treated myself to the special offer of a scone, jam and cream with a filter coffee, called it lunch and read the paper in the warm, it was really chilly up there as it's on the crest of a west facing hill. Wandered round the plant stands later but just bought 3 reduced price Anemone blanda. I do like that plant but always forget where I've planted it.
Hope everyone's enjoying the day, including the rugby fans and that Dove will feel better soon.
Excuses for not being on for a while although I have read your posts and seen the lovely photos of camellias, crocuses and daffodils. The weather is warming up.
I hope everyone is having a good weekend. Yes, rugby for me but I have been busy this week in my veggie garden and am feeling rather pleased with myself. I finished spreading the manure and there was even a sprinkle of rain that night. Not much to write home about though. A trip to the nursery for my onion plugs and of course came away with lettuces and spinach plants as well. 50 red onions 50 white (salad) onions planted finally this morning, 45 spinach plants and 20 lettuces in 2 netting tunnels - let's hope the snails and slugs don't smell them yet!!
Although sunny this morning, the wind whipped up yesterday and this afternoon and it's cold. Snowing in the Averyon district giving a keen bite to the wind. I believe the temperatures have dropped for the areas above us.
A bit of a cold or sinus which made planting ..... interesting... and giving a nice little sinus headache in the evenings. Hip and knee sore but hottie and rest seems to relieve. I am still only limiting my work to 30/60 minutes per day.
We went to Oxburgh Hall today, a moated Nat Trust house. It has an interesting history but the gardens aren't as lovely as some of the bigger stately homes in Norfolk. They have a lot of snowdrops but they are nearly over and the daffodils are coming out. I'll post some photos on the visit thread, if I can find it.
On the way home we stopped at Diddlington plant nursery. The plants are very good value. Their perennials were all laid out but I'm a bit short of space. I did buy some Tête à Tête daffodils, another tray of pink violas and some pretty little light blue and white stripey primroses. I planted them this afternoon, also the 3 lupins I bought recently and the Sweet Siluetta rose that I was given at the Peter Beales rose workshop day.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Be careful what you say @Dovefromabove or you could be called on to give assistance next year! He is a very experienced farmer but now going it alone since his brother died a year or so ago (apart from my young G/son helping when not at school). As his lambing season draws to a close he is getting very tired and failed to notice the one (known) bad tempered ewe was approaching him while he was helping yet another lambkin into the world - Biff!. It can happen to the best of us. Hope you are feeling a bit better today.
I've read back, best wishes to sickly people, safe travels @punkdoc, you're too nice @Badly_Maintained, and big hugs to everyone else.
Charlie and I are on our annual skiing trip, fabulous so far, although a bit challenging getting here, had to use snow chains for the first time ever, 50 minutes to do a very few kilometres and then lots of traffic jams. Great snow so far though and we're feeling confident. Tired though, so I wish everyone well and I'll catch up more tomorrow.

Chilly but a peep of sun periodically.

We had little cards at each table with an emoji quiz, messages for the bride, a ‘guess the dress’ drawing competition and selfie station etc.
Here are a few from the emoji quiz (wedding based phrases and traditions):
