@AnnaB, yesterday I wrote "I hooe you are too stiff today". Obviously that's not what I meant! I hope you are even less stiff today.
That was dreadful luck about the fire @D0rdogne_Damsel. I hope the insurance pays and it ends up better than before once it's all made good.
We had a delicious meal at the lovely Suffolk pub restaurant with my friend. I think they should have a Michelin star. Friend is going today, to stay a couple of nights with another friend in Norfolk.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Itās 11C here and we have a lovely spring morning of sunshine and showers ⦠clouds parting to allow moments of gold to light up the pink breasts of a pair of woodpigeons on the roof across the rise ⦠ and a slow start today ⦠OH isnāt working this weekend and son is still asleep ⦠Iāve no idea what time he got in last night ⦠OH thinks it was after midnight ⦠I didnāt hear a thing. Heās working tomorrow so I suspect today will be āa quiet dayā.Ā
Gardening in Central NorfolkĀ on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Grey and drizzly here, but the light is improving and I spy buds on trees. I donāt think Iād cope well living in northern Alaska where they Ā have just had their annual Ā 8 weeks of total darkness.Ā
I read that it was āGroundhog Dayā yesterday and ended up watching a video of an āeventā where the Groundhog is said to predict whether we will have another 6 weeks of Winter, or whether Spring has arrived early! Phil from Pennsylvania has predicted early Spring this year (not sure if generally, or just for Pennsylvania).Ā
I hope everyone is doing ok. In the spirit of Spring coming, sending positive wishes to all of you with worries, challenges or pain going on.Ā
I am keeping fingers crossed that the insurance will pay up @D0rdogne_Damsel. Sorry to hear about it.Ā Grey and cold again here, glad I cleared some periwinkle yesterday. I want to get rid of it (will I though?) for a new bed of easy geraniums and sempervivum. Even half hour of pulling and crumbling soil made me happy. I am sure there's something in soil .... dopamine that gets absorbed by the skin? Something magic maybe, I spent a long time looking at a worm I disturbed until it disappeared again. Magic, I tell you š
A weekend of rugby watching here. Had my letter about claiming my state pension today, I know I am not eligible for full pension, didn't do enough years, but it will be a great help.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Morning all, a watery sun here, but it's still very mild, no sign of rain though until next weekend.Ā I watched the rugby last night, I don''t think I've seen the French play so badly for a long time. Some HW first before the next games. I've just taken some homemade tomato sauce out for the freezer to do something with for a meal tonight- something with pasta I think and garlic bread. Catch up with you all later.
Very happy to hear that things are improving for you @AnnaB .Ā Take things slowly and steadily for a while yet.
@Lizzie27 I'm extremely glad that you and your OH both stayed safe during that very unpleasant incident with the man wielding the machete at the hospital.
I hope that your new relationship will bring you great happiness @D0rdogne_Damsel .Ā After everything that has happened lately you deserve joy in your life.
Hopefully your soon will recover from the virus very soon @Nanny Beach
Today is (so far) perhaps the best February day I can remember.Ā Frost-free night, negligible cloud, sunshine, light winds, birds singing their hearts out.Ā A day to gladden the heart of an inept gardener and man of no consequence
Have a wonderful day out there ladies and gentlemen.
"If you have a garden in your library, we will want for nothing" Marcus Tullius Cicero (in a letter to Marcus Terentius Varro, 46 B.C.)
Dull and grey here today, but I dragged OH out of bed, and off to see the Donkeys this morning! There is sun on the horizon out to see, and we have had a small cooked breakfast, so feeling a bit perkier now. I spent several hours shopping in Exeter yesterday, which wore me out. I donāt know if it is walking on concrete, being near so many people and the lack of greenery, but I came home exhausted. ( And didnāt find anything worth spending money on) We will take a stroll round the pathways here, enjoy the fresh air and maybe pet some donkeys. OH will be watching rugby this afternoon, so Iāll get a few chores done, spend an hour in the garden, Ā and hopefully start a craft project I have in mind.
Morning everybody. It's grey and dismal with low flying mist/fog but at least it isn't raining so grateful for that. Hoping to get in the garden after I've had my coffee. Thanks for your good wishes @Badly_Maintained. It's usually quiet here so we're not used to those sort of goings on so grateful they caught the chap quite quickly.Ā
Such a nuisance for you @D0rdogne_Damsel, hopefully the insurance will pay for everything you need/want. Poor Charlie, he was so excited about his new bedroom earlier in the year. Hope the lunch goes well but please take things slowly and get to know this new chap well. Says she, look who's talking, I met and married my OH in less than a year!
@floralies, that supper sounds very moreish - I do love pasta/tomato/garlic bread.
@punkdoc You might still get more pension than IĀ because you will be getting the new higher rate. I was chatting to my SIL yesterday who was rather miffed that my sister who also qualifies for her state pension in March, is getting more than either of us. However, I'm not complaining as we got ours at age 60 so it all evens out in the end.
@Busy-Lizzie Glad you enjoyed your meal out with your friend.
Have a good weekend folks wherever you are and whatever you're doing.
Iāve also treated myself to a lovely new oven glove: Kew Gardens collection (at the SM with orange logo). I have the mugs already. My MIL, and others, would say ātoo nice to useā about the oven glove. Not me! Iām in the enjoy the little things and donāt keep for ābestā things that bring joy - camp.Ā
