A very grey day, but trying a little light gardening.
Not boring at all, @D0rdogne_Damsel, I used to love skiing until old injuries caught up with me.
@Ergates, glad you enjoyed the Elizabeth Strout, several of her novels involve the same characters, but they all work as stand alone novels. If you enjoy her, you might like Mary Lawson
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Good afternoon everyone, well the sun has tried to make an appearance in the past few days, but the clouds seem to win our every time. Been reading more than posting lately. Finally managed a few hours on the plots this morning, arm is still tender but bearable.
Glad you are enjoying yourselves @D0rdogne_Damsel. Dordogne is on an orange weather alert for flooding, better off where you are. There has been some flooding in Norfolk where I am but mostly the river Waveney overflowing into fields. Not raining today.
My lunch guests have just left. I hadn't known that two of the 3 couples have been friends for a long time. It went well, they ate all the food and the chat was lively.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
We went to bed early last night as I was so tired after my shopping trip, too much walking I expect. We still didn't wake up early which surprised us. Did our usual walk and had to wade through our flooded lane again, the water level was about a foot high but had dropped today by an inch or so. Drains solidly blocked by mud we suspect. We met a friend who told us a very big lorry had stopped by the flood on Saturday, didn't appear to do anything and then went away again so who knows. The flood has been reported to the local Council but as it only goes to one property, is probably very low on their priorities. It's an inconvenience for walkers our end though as the other route is a longer and involves a steep hill.
Actually saw some bluebells in bloom on the lane verge which was surprising.
I was really pleased as the sun came out and it got warmer just before lunch so I was able to prune a couple of clematis I'd missed, then of course I did some weeding and one thing led to another. Lunch was late!
The weather is dire here, the ground is waterlogged. We are on a hill on flat ground with a high water table and clay soil. Even with improved drainage parts of the garden still flood. We think we have cured the washing machine of its flooding by giving the pipes a good rod and clean!. My daughter and her OH have embarked their ship, there was no cholera only gastroenteritis, they are very disappointed that they are not now going to Madagascar. I hope all are OK.
Morning all. No news here, but our son is planning an overnight visit either today or tomorrow. His team is booked to photograph one of the local schools. Not sure which one.
Good morning all ☕️ It’s foggy out there! Take care those of you who are travelling.
I hope everyone’s had a restful night … I had a better night … although my head is still stuffed up at least I wasn’t kept awake by continued coughing. Progress! 👍 Its a shame I can’t go to choir … I enjoy it so much … but hey ho, I wouldn’t be able to sing, and it wouldn’t be fair to spread this around.
Glad your daughter can continue on the holiday @f@floralies … a shame about Madagascar tho … are they going to get another destination slotted in do you know?
Re the washing machine … we had that problem with the outlet pipes etc blocked almost solid with residual gunge from fabric softener stuff. It was so thick and solid we had to have some of the pipes replaced! We stopped using softener and our pipes are fine now. 🤞
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Morning all, a bright start to the day, at least it has stopped raining!! @Dovefromabove daughter is very peeved as they are only going to Reunion now and then stopping at ports around S Africa I presume to make up for lost time. I had a dizzy spell in bed last night so feeling rather "heady" this morning but we have shopping to do so must get on.

I am plucking up the courage to make a dental appointment. Next stop - dentures. If anyone has been through this - is it as bad as I am imagining?

Didn't realize you were catering for so many lunch guests @Busy-Lizzie, that would have had me in a right old panic.
@coccinella Sorry to hear your meds are causing difficulties, not nice for you at all.
Glad your arm is getting better @Allotment Boy.

Enjoy your evening folks.
