Many Happy Returns of the day to @Busy-Lizzie OH……..

Morning all. It's another slightly misty, sunny but cold day here. Yesterday, the sun had burnt off the mist by about 11am and I had about 3 hrs in the garden working in a sheltered spot. Had to start removing layers as I got too hot. Today, the actual temperature at a nearby airfield is currently 5C and the work that needs doing next is in the shade so it might feel a tad different...

BL - hope you and your OH have a lovely day. Happy birthday to him🎂

Ante - hope you're not feeling too rotten with your cold and bruised finger.

LB - I have a lot of cowslips and oxlips in my garden - they seed everywhere when they find a favourable spot, including all over the lawn. If you would like me to send you a couple of seed heads later in the year do let me know🙂

Watched the first three of 4 episodes of 'Too Good to be True' last night. It's a channel 5 drama starring Tom Branson from Downton. A little predictable but, so far, I'm enjoying it. Will finish it off tonight. Always nice when you find a drama that actually holds your attention.

    Hello all.

The lawn shone with silvery frost this morning, the sun is shining but it's still cold.

Thank you for the birthday wishes for my OH. I showed him and he says thank you too.

His birthday meal was on Friday and his outing was yesterday but I'll cook a nice dinner tonight.

Got to pick up the bedding this morning and we were very good that, despite a browse around, we didn’t pick up anything else. Went to the DIY  store for stuff for OH and came out with a lovely Cistus Corbariensis, a Heuchera  Palace  Purple and a small Ameria Pseudarmeria Ballerina Purple Rose for the planter.  All snug in the greenhouse now although they will start to left outside during day hereafter. Have potted on some sorry looking foxgloves and planted out a rescued Cowslip plant. Tended to some dried out plants in the coldframes and have been driven in by the cold now.
@Topbird , I don’t know how you manage three hours outside, far  too cold here for any sustained gardening.

I'm in training for our big adventure Hazel😉

Seriously though, I soon warm up when I'm working and tend to 'run hot' any way. The only bit of me that's cold now after 2.5 hrs out there is my knees. My kneeling cushion got wet when we had a sudden little shower while I was indoors eating lunch so my knees got both wet and cold. Suspect doing things like that may come back to bite me in a few years time🤔

Ooo that doesn’t sound like a good idea @Topbird re your knees- kneeling and wet hmmm.  I realise all training helps (😳) but your poor knees have to hold you up! Without them you’re *******ed!

    Afternoon all.

Busy, Happy Birthday to your OH!

Hazel, it sounds that you bought some lovely plants.

As T'bird said. I feel quite rotten. It's nothing serious, so I'll have my usually schedule next week. After a lot of rain sun came out, and it was pleasant outside. This very strange weather gave my feeling that I'm behind with outside jobs, but it's only February. Believe me. last few weeks look like early May. I went outside just to catch a bit of fresh air and take few photos. Here they are:

Good afternoon all. It was way too cold here to work outside so I was forced to do some indoor stuff. Hazel, well done on your restraint in your favourite store but that restraint was obviously abandoned when you got to the big DIY shop!
T'Bird, I would absolutely love some seed heads from your cowslips and oxlips. Thank you so much for the kind offer! I think SGL is watching that drama but the trailers were really creepy so I avoided it
Ante, your pictures, as ever, are a delight. I didn't know that Euphorbias would look so good at this time of year and I bet that  the big, beautiful white hyacinth smells divine. Thank you for sharing them with us. I hope that you feel a bit better tomorrow.
Here is a little puzzle for you, today I counted 9 magpies - all together - in my Katsura tree today. Do any of you know the poem about magpies? I only know up to number seven. I thought I would ask to save me looking it up on t'internet.
Debs, that is a lot of horse manure!
Hope your OH has enjoyed all his meals and outings to celebrate his birthday Busy. I'm sure that he will have done.
@Biglad, you must be down in the 20s now on your D-Day minus timings.
I watched the last of the three Six Nations matches today - Italy v France. It was an absolute cracker of a match, ending in a draw. Poor Italy missed a penalty kick in the dying seconds and had they got this, they would have won.

9 magpies for a kiss - your lucky day LB!!!!

I'll cut off some seed heads for you in the summer. Might also have to try scattering some in a couple of 'nothing-much-grows-except-bramble-and-nettle-seedlings areas' - they seem quite determined little plants!
