    Morning all (from the CA),

Feel like I'm in a remake of "Groundhog Day" at the moment :D Ticking off the days!

Just seen something about NZ repealing their relatively new smoking laws as it will negatively impact the indigenous population. I must still be a bit groggy because I can't work that out. Can anybody enlighten me?

Good morning @Biglad and all arriving later. In a word @Biglad "No". I am not sure what the new laws were/are, but unless it means that the indigenous population grow tobacco and could be financially affected, or are so addicted to nicotine that they may have a medical emergency, I haven't a clue.
Thinking about making a early SM dash this morning before the work/school traffic starts to build up - there are traffic lights at the top end of the Lane which are causing chaos.

It's what Jacinda Ardern introduced @Ladybird4. Ban smoking completely for anyone born after 2008, reduce the number of retailers and importers. As with most of (if not all) her policies, I struggle to disagree. It's a horrific habit/industry. Walter Raleigh has a lot to answer for!

@Biglad, thanks for clarifying that for me. It does make me wonder about the making of rules that cannot be successfully implemented - it happened several times whilst I was teaching. I couldn't agree with you more about smoking.

In 1604, James I of England and James VI of Scotland published his ‘Counterblaste to Tobacco’. He condemned the use of tobacco on the grounds of its poisonous efects on the body.

We're not very quick on the uptake are we?

Good morning all. Pleasant evening at my sisters last night. I got some good advice from a friend about my job hunting. I had a lazy day reading. Weather very grey and still cold with heavy showers. Come back Spring!
Work later then we are all off out for a meal originally planned to celebrate my birthday but now I think a council of war. There is to be a meeting to tell us about all the services we need to offer and “star charts” so we can meet our targets. You can imagine how well that is going down!
Sounds like the quiz was fun @Ladybird4
@Songbird-2 the end of an era is always sad isn’t it? Take care of yourself.

Big Lad I remember my mother-in-law being told to smoke by her doctor. This was when her children were small. She brought up three boys on her own .A poor substitute for medication!

My mother in law told me that when her own mother was dying of TB the family were told not to go into the room without a cigarette as “smoke kills the germs”
To be fair this was in Dublin about 75 years ago,
