@Topbird,  that brings to mind what happened at one of our local newspaper shops. We had got to know the ladies in there and it was a well known chain, McColls. Their shop was shutting down and after much deliberation, ones of the ladies decided to go for voluntary redundancy, got it about£7000+, left, found another job in a shop nearer to her home and it ended  up being much better for her all round.  As she said, the money was there just as buffer until a new job could be gained.
@debs64 ,  it will be surprising what skills you will have attained over the years,  both at home and in work. Don’t sell yourself short. You will have people skills, organisational skills, working as a team, engaging with the public, methodical and  working to an timetable, achieving targets, trustworthy, reliability , going  the extra mile to name but a few. Sympathetic nature, caring, helpful, professional attitude towards work. The list is endless. Never think you have few skills! You have masses.

You've listed a lot of relevant and very valuable skills there Hazel.

Another plus I would add is that you work in healthcare @debs64. By osmosis, even if not by training, you will have amassed medical knowledge which is much in demand in many jobs where there are currently shortages of staff. You could look at admin work in the NHS. They like organised people with a bit of a medical background but don't necessarily require lots of qualifications.

Good afternoon all. Debs that is sound advice from Hazel and T'Bird. Its a horrible situation for you to be in especially as it is going to affect so many of your colleague friends. I do hope that your employers don't keep you all in suspense with the resultant anxieties before they make any decisions.
I had a super time at the nursery with my friend. She is having to refill her gardens as she and her husband have just had a huge extension built on their house and her garden has really suffered. She bought a Clematis armandii 'Snowdrift', two Tree Paeonies - pink and purple, a Sarcococca, a tray of 15 Primulas, some Snakes Head Fritillaries, and two Camellias - red and pink. Her little car was full! I bought two pots of Fritillaries. I think we are going back next week!

Electrician came this morning and has done a smashing job on the new switch. We thought it would be a double socket, not realising you can get a single socket with two on-off switches on it. Soooo…,no need to do any decorating immediately lol😂 Can save it for another day👍 He readjusted our new outside light and took an old redundant one down and disconnected it in the loft for us too.
We’ve just popped to SM for tomorrows shopping as won’t be going out in the morning. Son and 23 and girls coming down in the morning so won’t have time. Have organised a delivery though as well.
We are well pooped again, haven’t felt so tired like this for a long time.
LB, bet  you thoroughly enjoyed yourself, on friends behalf , looking for plants and you’ve got some new ones too. She has got a nice selection too.  Lovely. Our fritillaries are coming through nicely in the soil. Love them.

    Afternoon all.

Hazel, I'm glad you are satisfied with electrician well done job. Try to rest before tomorrow and wish you a nice time with son, 23 and girls.

LB, nice that you had a lovely time in GC. Enjoy with new plants.

Don't worry T'bird, I can give you a lesson. Croatians are very innovative and creative with swearing.  😂

Busy, hope your friend will be better and will visit you tomorrow.

I didn't have a nice time at GC, and needed a nap after arriving home. GC is 50 km away from my town, and it's not convenient to pop in every now and then. They called me yesterday and my order was ready to collect, but when I arrived they sold it to someone else. I was very disappointed because I buy there for years. I managed to find onions at another GC, but for potatoes I must go next week.

Ante, that is really bad what your GC did to you. I cannot believe that they sold your order to some one else. I'll bet your creative Croatian swearing got a good airing when you got to the GC and discovered what they had done!
Hazel, a good job done there. Bet you were glad that it gave you and your OH a breathing space before you decorate again. You better brace yourself before your visitors tomorrow!

I am signing out for tonight. Hoping for a decent sleep. I've got Food Bank duties tomorrow and will be picking Bestie up first. See you all in the morning before I leave.

Ante, that’s terrible thing for the tv to do , to sell your  order and so far away for you to travel  too! 👎 no wonder you needed a kip when you got home. I would be very disgruntled.  I’d love to know a Croatian swear word- what’s “ hell” in Croatian @Ante?! 😊😉😂 How’s your finger doing?
Busy hope your friend gets better soon and then you can all have a lovely catch up.LB no doubt you will be having an early morning start tomorrow so sleep well and hope all goes well for you all at Food  Bank.

Good evening Hazel. I was very displeased but didn't say a word. What I thought at the time is another story. 😁 I visited my neighbor and we had a small "coffee", you understand I know. Our word for "hell" is pakao, but we often use fraise "go to the devil." Sorry if I offended somebody, it's only for educational purpose. 😁
