Debs,,you have my heartfelt sympathises and with the extra work load that has been put onto chemists it makes me wonder if this is sustainable in the long term?
@Songbird-2 there are moves in the pipeline to transfer patients to online pharmacy services but I honestly feel they are a bad idea. Pharmacies will close and then where will people go for advice? Also acute medication? Specifically antibiotics? Prescriptions will be sent to online providers and the drugs will take days to arrive when immediate treatment is required. All in the name of making more money for pharmacy companies. Sorry to rant but I feel strongly that once again patients are coming last well behind profits. I will retire soon but I feel for my colleagues. And the poor patients who will lose one more personal caring service.
Goodness @debs64 that’s rather a frightening thought. I hadn’t hear that patients may be transferred to on line service pharmacies .What does that mean? In our case, our “ pharmacy” isn’t what one would call a normal chemist at all. The town centre chemist shut and now we have to go to a cupboard ( yes, really) in the local Health Centre to pick up prescriptions. It is so small that the people serving are always side passing each other, it’s so tiny. They do not sell any products etc. It is purely for picking up medicines. I have never seen a Pharmacist there either. Crumbs, it’s all going to the dogs isn’t it? ☹️
@debs64 I've never raised my voice at the pharmacy staff when there's been supply issues - or even when they gave me the wrong meds. On the latter occasion I started taking the wrong one. They mixed meds in a plain, white box. It had consequences that I picked up on very quickly. The pharmacist who mixed them up got the sack. I felt that was extreme, but I may not have been the only one.
I've always tried to be friendly with staff. It pays off, and in most cases, the issue is not the fault of the staff.
I'm sorry that people just yell at the staff. I do understand their frustration, but there is no need to get unpleasant.
Society needs pharmacy staff. They do more than just hand out meds.
Afternoon all. I have to agree with all the statements re Pharmacies taking over the task of issuing medications without prescriptions from the Doctors. Like @rowlandscastle444 I never rant at anyone who works in a Pharmacy as they are trying so hard to look after us all but like Debs I can foresee the closing of some Pharmacies. I only found out the other week that in my village they do not open on a Saturday at all and haven't done for a few years.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Off to see Bestie later and as expected it is raining! Cricket has just come in and given me an unwelcome shower - I thought only dogs did the wet wiggle! I'll speak with Jack later too and find out if his daughter arrived home safely.

Good morning @Ladybird4 and all to follow. Just on bus on way to work. Very mild here again today but raining of course. Good growing weather I suppose. Hope you all have a good day.
Morning all. Debs, hope work is kind to you today. Enjoy your time with Bestie LB. I am up early as have a Dr’s appointment at 9.00am, so hope to get things semi/fully sorted today. It’s been raining overnight but is very mild this morning, we’ve not had to put heating on, bonus. Catch you all later.
