Can’t sleep so have come down for a cuppa. I know it’s not that late but I have a feeling this is going to be a long night. I’m so tired too. I’m quite cold too so maybe do myself a hot water bottle.
I do understand the lack of sleep issue @Songbird-2 I was woken ( by the wife, on this occasion. Tells me she can't sleep. She's gone to the kitchen for a drink) Hope you managed some shut-eye.
That was my experience the night before last Hazel. Last night I did take some of that magic potion that helps you to sleep - not alcohol I might add! It certainly helped me as I had a much better night. My wet garden has only become a major mud bath since they built the new estate just up the Lane from me. I am positive that this upset the water table. Heaven only knows what will happen if the planning application for 57 new homes at the back of me gets passed. I am thinking that I might get some stepping stones which will at least give me a firmer footing.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
LB, sorry to hear that you have problems with all those digging and building. It's also a huge problem over here, and the most heartful is cutting and demolishing trees. Little cat is better than I expect. Half an hour ago I gave her first of three antibiotic injection.
We have a really lovely spring weather. It was another very busy week for me, but nothing in plan whole weekend. I'm almost finish with summer kitchen. Next week must collect onion and potatoes for planting. This year the price of all planting material is exactly doubled. Very unpleasant surprise. Now I'll enjoy with cup of tea on my balcony, and you can join at least with the view.
Good morning Ante. Thank you so much for your lovely, calm picture - just beautiful.
Yes, looking for the plans for this new development, many trees will be removed. At least my trees at the bottom of the garden are safe and I'm so happy that I planted them long enough ago that they now provide an excellent screen and places for my birds to perch.

"A dry start to the day". Ummm. Well apart from the rain Mr Shaffaknacker. I see zero point in the National weather forecasts, which get longer and longer. Alex Talkslikehesdrunk seems to have multiple different segments when he's on the evening news. Normally involving him telling us what he's going to tell us in 5 mins time, telling us what weather we've already had and then guessing (with varied success) on what we might get in the near future. Often involving him going on a jolly somewhere for no good reason other than to increase his carbon footprint. Thus ensuring that he can occasionally try to educate us on climate change!!!
If you must have them, keep it to regional to make it at least vaguely relevant. I'm rarely interested in what is going on in the south-east and folk there certainly don't what to hear about my neck of the woods. Imagine if the national news included an item on our sheep population coming into town and eating £1000s worth of newly planted flowers prior to the judging of our entry into Britain in Bloom? So don't cheerfully tell me it's been a dry start to the day. I've been outside. It ain't dry!
Right - got that off my chest No work for 2 days. Aaannd relax
Morning all. I did eventually get some sleep but not a great deal. I feel a busy-doing-nothing kind of day coming on,sigh.
Biglad, you are spot on! I really don’t understand why the weather presenters tell us about the day we have just had either, pointless. And wastes time. We never get a mention on the National News where we live. Think we mustn’t belong to theUnited Kingdom at all, we don’t exist. Even when our weather has been or is going to be atrocious,it is never mentioned. Unlike thebSouth who get to have pictures included with their news/forecast.
LB, stepping stones may be the way to go, particularly if the weather continues to be variable with copious amounts of rain. You have to be safe.
Ante, ah Ante, to wake up to that view every morning is heaven.🙂 Never take it for granted, mon ami, its beautiful and what a gorgeous picture. Prices….yes, they’re extortionate aren’t they for many things and I think it’s disgusting.A penny only buys you so much!
@Ladybird4 I understand your frustration about the new homes. We've only just moved from a conurbation of around 300,000 people, to a village of around 11,000. It's still large, for a village. However, we are aware of plans to build enough new homes to accommodate a further 5,000 residents. Part of that will be at the end of our road, less than 100m away. But that is supposed to be "phase four", so would be several years away. That gives us time to adapt our garden accordingly.
@Ante1 Lovely photo. It looks so calm and restful.
If the weather stays dry today, I plan to be out in the garden. If it rains - then I have a bar of chocolate that is crying out to be eaten, and serious resting that could be achieved.
@Biglad - hear hear! Its raining here - again! I know I mention that ad nauseam (mea culpa) Just slotted that in for T'Bird! I am heartily fed up. Rant over!
I went out to fill the bird feeder in the front garden and (eek) I spotted a bunch of 4 snowdrops I had missed during my planting session the other day - just lying there in the border. I doubt they will have come to much harm because of that which shall not be mentioned so I made a rapid retreat to the garage to find one of my trowels and the bunch is now safely planted.
