Thank you for your concern everyone .I will tell Rebecca you asked after her .I am feeling a bit brighter today .After an hour in the garden yesterday I felt better.
Aww thanks Ante and Rubee. Yes poor 23 was frightened and upset but is alright now. Ante, I can quite understand your sentiments regarding school- my OH was a teacher and became more and more disillusioned with it. It is totally different nowadays and nothing like it used to be as a profession.
Good afternoon, It has turned into a pleasant afternoon. A bit breezy, but dry and mild with some blue sky visible. It certainly cheers. So sorry to hear about the attack on 23 and the other little boy @Songbird-2. I hope the school deal with the matter promptly and efficiently. I, too, understand stand your sentiments about school @Ante1. It got to me in the end, and I left earlier than I’d hoped I would, and wouldn’t go back for all the tea in China. (Too old now, anyway). I hope those of you struggling to sleep have a better night tonight. It’s awful, isn’t it, watching the clock tick by? The more you try to sleep, the harder it is to do so.
Oh Hazel - I'm so sorry to hear about poor little 23's unpleasant experience but glad he's ok. I assume from what you wrote that this has been nipped in the bud (Ante = dealt with promptly and properly) and the young bully has been dealt with quite severely?
We had a couple of bullies in my form at secondary school. They weren't the real hard-line bullies you read about these days and I don't think they ever stooped to stealing from or really injuring anyone, but they certainly made their victims' lives very unpleasant with taunt and by constantly hiding their belongings and locking them in or out of rooms etc so they were regularly late or ill prepared for lessons. Not sure if the teachers knew what was going on - they didn't do anything about it.
They even found a young teacher to pick on and reduced him to tears in front of the class before he went off on extended sick leave. On which note - I really feel for you Ante if you now get little joy from your teaching work. A good teacher can be such a positive influence and really shape the lives of so many children. I suspect it would be a real loss to your school if you ever decided you did not wish to continue your career.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Good afternoon all. As expected, I didn't come away from a lovely morning at the GC without a teeny addition to the garden. I just had to rescue the last pot of snowdrops and bring them home. They are now happily settled in the front garden with the others.
Ruby, well done on getting the poppies ordered.
Thanks for the heads up T'Bird, I had completely forgotten to mention the waterlogging. I know I had someone out from the council last time, when a new development further up the lane was completed. He came on the hottest day of the year when the mud heap looked like the Sahara desert! I will send in an additional letter of opposition and include my own pictures of the underwater pond!
Debs, I saw some very pretty primulas today but they were very pricey. There is a bargain GC a bit further afield that I will visit this week.
Hazel, I was shocked and horrified to read about the attack on 23 and the other poor little soul. With the increasing reports of violence from youngsters I can understand parents worrying about their own children. I am just glad I got out of teaching when I did.
Busy, the roads around me were flooded today and drivers were very kindly pausing to let each other get through in turn down the middle of the Lane.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Ante, Busy, Red Maple, Topbird and LB, thank you for your kind words re 23. The school is taking urgent action to resolve this. We will see what happens but it is upsetting for everyone least of all 23. OH and I have been in the garden this afternoon, OH has laid two new medium sized slabs round a new border as a mini walkway and I have been pottering around. I was admiring our new snowdrops LB which reminded me of you and yours…and now some more to add to the display. 🙂 SGL hope you've had a nice time with the Poppets. Night all, signing off for now.
Slight reversal in our fortunes there weather-wise Hazel. My garden was definitely not up to any attention today - far too wet. Not often I get to say that - and no doubt I'll be out there tomorrow. Trying to empty at least one compost bin before we leave, but I do like to have a bit of a weed and tidy up before laying the mulch and it's hard work on the wrists when the clay soil is as wet as this.
Still not complaining about the rain though. Very rarely do we get too much here.

We drove to church this morning and the roads were awash. It tipped with rain last night. It's never very deep around here as it's pretty flat.
A lady from Peter Beales rang, she said to bring my wellies tomorrow!
