The storm seems to have calmed now. Son’s offices are by a main rail line and apparently overhead wires had been brought down onto a train nearby … he said the work by the emergency services dealing with it was amazing … there are still major floods and trees down all over East Anglia … the flooding is really bad in mid Suffolk where there are heavy clay soils and a lot of rivers Thankfully son said he doesn’t think he’ll have to go to the office today … he is seeing a client who lives in Norfolk today.
ETA. it’s raining again ….

I understand your extreme pain @punkdoc My first hip op was very painful and it was some weeks before I could even lift my knee. It would be a good idea to contact the surgeon but as you well know, he will only send you off with a prescription for an x-ray to make sure there is no infection Hopefully, with some stronger pain killers. Stay as still as possible although just changing sitting or lying position is extremely painful.
Glad your daughter arrived safely @Lizzie27 Now she just has to get back again!!
Overcast and grey here but rather mild at 14°C during the day. Colder weather coming soon. I would like to put some horse manure on my vegetable garden but it is so dry, it would be impossible to dig it over even fork it in. Not that I can do anything at the moment, but my lovely friend said he would be only too happy to do it for me. So that's nice.
I agree that you should contact your surgeon or the hospital @punkdoc. Best to check that nothing is wrong.
OH was going by train to the airport on Sunday but the train has been cancelled because of engineering work. I wonder if it's because of the weather probems that @Dovefromabove mentioned. There is a bus provided but it takes ages and would only take him to Ely. He's thinking of going by National Express instead. Travelling by train seems to be getting more and more difficult, expensive too.
I'll be doing washing and HW today. Won't be clearing decorations and tree until after OH gets here.
From Sunday the weather is going to change from being mild and wet to sunny and very cold.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Morning all, are you able to get out of bed @punkdoc and take a few steps/ sit in a chair? Perhaps Moira could give the top of your leg a good massage, my physio did this as part of my sessions and I found it helped a lot. Must get dressed and go to the SM, catch up later.
@Busy-Lizzie there appear to be few/no trains running in East Anglia at the moment …
“… Emergency services spent the night rescuing people from cars on flooded roads and clearing fallen trees, as Storm Henk's aftermath caused travel disruption.
All Greater Anglia trains from Ipswich to and from Cambridge, Norwich and Peterborough are cancelled on Wednesday morning, due to a fallen tree damaging overhead electric wires between Ipswich and Norwich.
All trains were also cancelled between Cambridge North and Ely due to a fallen tree and disruption was expected until further notice.
Greater Anglia said Network Rail staff were on site carrying out repairs and tickets restrictions for Wednesday have been lifted.
Cross Country rail replacement buses were running between Cambridge and Leicester.
East Midlands trains are passing Greater Anglia ticket holders between Norwich and Peterborough.
A Greater Anglia spokesperson said: "Multiple incidents are affecting services across the network and Greater Anglia is experiencing severe disruption to services due to storm Henk.
@Busy-Lizzie … also problems getting to Stansted …
Greater Anglia passengers urged not to travel
As we just reported, there is train disruption across the UK. Greater Anglia is urging passengers not to travel between Ipswich, Cambridge and Peterborough due to trees on overhead wires.
The firm says all lines are blocked and as a result trains may be cancelled, delayed or revised.
Similar damage is impacting trains between Cambridge North and Ely; and National Rail says a tree on the track near Spooner Row is affecting services between Norwich, Cambridge and Stansted Airport. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-67871002

The weather reports from your area sound terrible @Dovefromabove, there are going to be a lot of people struggling to get to work or elsewhere this morning.
Is your OH flying back to France @Busy-Lizzie? Remember reading a couple of days ago about the channel tunnel being flooded over the New Year. Hope he makes it to the airport in time if that is the way he's going to travel.
Glad your daughter made the journey safely @lizzie27, will she have the time to take a pause before travelling home again?
@Tui34 you certainly have a lovely friend there to help. Sorry but I have forgotten, do you have any doc/hospital appointments booked to help get your leg checked over?
Not good weather for you either @PatE, keep warm and safe until your summer weather returns again.
Hoping things are a bit easier for you this morning @punkdoc.
Poor @punkdoc. I agree that it wouldn’t do any harm to contact your surgeon for advice. Better not to leave it too long, just in case it’s something that would benefit from some attention. Remember the dry socket! It sounds as I feel the rest of the country has also been hit hard by Storm Henk. Evidently no trains from Devon at the moment, either flooding or trees on the line. It has calmed down here, but our neighbour had a tree fall yesterday, trapped by other branches but still hanging across the road. The tree surgeons were setting up at 8 am to remove it. I have an appointment for an X-ray at a cottage hospital 20 miles from home, allowing plenty of extra time in case of delays en route. We have already had a short hold up to accommodate tree surgeons clearing a section of fallen hedgerow, but I wouldn’t be surprised to find more debris on the road. I do hope OH can find a convenient route to the airport, @Busy-Lizzie. National Express sounds like a sensible option, although he’ll probably have to plan a stupidly early arrival in case the coach has to take the long way round.
