Afternoon everyone,Ā  a dry startĀ  but we had drizzleĀ  again already.Ā
Well @Dovefromabove if you are 27 then I am17 the day before  you.   Many people are very kind and say I don't look my age , but I have to remind them  a lot of old furniture looks good but it's the woodworm inside your have to watch out for 🤣
We are taking down the decorations today, while we still await the fridge engineer.Ā  Supposed to come anytime now up to 3pm. Not optimistic.Ā

    I don't feel my age either @Dovefromabove and @Busy-Lizzie - and I have an additional 4 years on you!Ā Ā

I agree with @punkdoc - shame about losing the politics thread.Ā  But after a while it became clear who were the ones I felt affinity with (most) and who were the ones who were just wrong!Ā  But I will miss not being able to comment on the general election.

But back to gardening - it will soon be time to start sowing seeds.Ā  I'm not sure I can face up to it all again this year*.Ā  We'll see.

*edited to add: is that those additional 4 years talking?

Lloyd Cole and the Commotions eh @punkdoc šŸ˜‰ … think an old friend from my former life had a connection with them.Ā

Which reminds me, anyone here a ā€˜Modern English’ fan? Ā I may have interesting news … šŸ˜‰Ā

I agree @didyw … but things are as they are and I understand why the decision had to be made.Ā

Well, I made the right decision earlier … despite the tempting sunshine I draped the washing upstairs rather than hang it out … I went out just now to look for snowdrops and hot rained on … out of a clear blue sky 😲

    Afternoon all,

As ever busy dashing about, had to collect sausages and bacon north of Limoges, damp foggy drive.Ā

Charlie and I were at our friend's last night for dinner and Charlie won the favour from the Galette du Roi, he was very happy, he might be 16 but still likes a bit of childish fun. After the meal he drove me home, the contrast made me smile.Ā

I've been following the thread about politics being banned too, trying to decide where I stand on the debate (now closed). Still not sure, good arguments on both sides. I better not say anymore I might be banned too. šŸ˜…

Yet another party tonight, it's exhausting all this gallivanting about, but lovely to be with people during these dark days, although I have noticed the nights getter a little bit lighter earlier. Nearly spring.Ā

Right, coffee break over, back on the road and unloading to do at the other end....

    Good day all.Ā

Hello, Happy New Ears everyoneĀ  B)

It has not rained at all today. can't actually remember the last time that happened - beginning of December probably. We even have a drop of sunshine and my rijnveld's daffs are blooming, looking lovely.

I've often expressed my political views and find it helpful to read some of the more thoughtful opinions here, but I do understand the difficulty for the mods. This isn't the first TV linked forum I've been part of - the previous one eventually was shut down because trolls kept coming and some members just couldn't let it go. It's a shame that civilised discourse is difficult in an open, public place, but I don't suppose it's much different from the pub. If you were having an intense chat with friends and a stranger barged in and started haranguing you all, you'd probably get up and leave. As Dove suggests, those conversations probably need to be in a more restricted group somewhere.

Might go and sort out my seeds, and order some new ones for this year ....

First night with the new mattress topper, and so far it’s no miracle cure. It is certainly comfortable, and OH found it preferable to the previous duvet-like topper. However, my sore hip complained quite a lot, and there was a fair bit of tossing and turning on my part. I’ll give it a few more days to bed in (!) before I declare it a failure. I just wish I could train myself to sleep on my right side, or even my back, but it seems impossible for some unknown reason.Ā
I rejected the memory foam versions on the grounds that friends have reported that they generate too much heat.( OH says I’m like an electric blanket at night) I also move around a lot, and been warned that some find trying to turn over on a memory foam mattress is like trying to extricate oneself from quicksand or a tar pit!
They are also very expensive, and non returnable if I find I can’t get on with them. Oh well, I’ll give it a reasonable trial.
Still managed a two hour walk in the sunshine. Welly boots needed, but didn’t slip over on the muddiest sections of the paths, and quite enjoyed wading through the occasional puddle. Fish and chips in the airfryer for lunch, delicious! Not done much since. I ought to go and sling some towels in the washing machine, instead of sitting on my rear end.
Hope everyone’s weekend is going well.

Evening everybody, a bit grumpy today as the smoke alarm is still beeping/waking us early. OH might just switch off the lighting circuit upstairs overnight to see if that stops it. I sympathise with your sleeping problems @Ergates. I love our memory foam top to our newish bed, it's far more comfortable and not as hot as the previous memory foam mattress we had.

I had an email this morning with sale offers from our local GC so arranged to meet a friend there for coffee/cake. We had a good mooch round afterwards and I had a little spending spree on minor garden sundries, clothes, soft tie, pegs, stakes and grit.
Thoroughly enjoyed getting out of the house and chatting with somebody other than OH.

What were you saying before Christmas @D0rdogne_Damsel? you wanted a better social life!Ā  Make the most of it and have a whirl.

Glad to hear you're slowly improving @Tui34.Ā

Is it wise to postpone a hip operation @floralies?Ā  OH just wants his 2nd op as soon as possible so he can get back to normal life. Goodness knows when that will be at the present rate of things in the NHS.
