I'm making marmalade. It's too soon for bitter oranges so I'm making orange and lemon marmalade. Trying it on my wood burning oven, not sure whether it will be hot enough, will have to resort to the gas hob if it isn't. Smells good though.
PS. I did have to put it on the gas.

bet itās still good, even without frilly tops @Busy-Lizzie .Ā
Still no snow, we get a few flakes then it stops. Working from home today so the cats keep trying to use me as a bed. They have clearly decided outside is a no go today. Itās a bit like having two, very heavy, hot water bottles. One on my knees and another around my neck. Everyone at work thinks it hilarious when one of them throws themselves at me mid meeting.
going to switch off the work computer and do a bit of crafting until hubby gets home.
Sorry itās so uncomfortable @punkdoc ⦠but itās good that youāre getting out in the fresh air a bit ⦠I wouldnāt want to go out for a walk here today ⦠son has been in London⦠he phoned and said there was āproper snowā. No idea what time heāll be back. I know heās a grown up but since the explosion I canāt help feeling a bit anxious when heās out and about ⦠Iām sure Iāll get used to it but I could do without too many icy roads etc this year ⦠ heās a really good driver ⦠itās the other idiots out there š«£

And me punkdoc. I only managed a very quick dash outside to put yet another cloche over more crocuses the squirrels had spotted. OH though has walked twice down to the bakery this morning. We had a lovely lunch of tinned salmon/mayonnaise on freshly baked batons. We'd bought the salmon during Covid as a standby tin and the expiry date was Dec 23 so it was use it or lose it! Haven't eaten tinned salmon for a long time and had forgotten how moreish it could be. I still feel rather full!
Your marmalade looks good @Busy-Lizzie. Apart from washing the kitchen floor and doing some ironing with that hot metal thingie, I haven't done much today. Snoozed for an hour this afternoon to make up for my early morning. It's going to be cold tomorrow apparently but we're hoping it will ease off by Wednesday as OH has a very early morning appointment at the GP.
I can feel your relief that Rob is safely home @Dovefromabove.
I can't tell you all how much I enjoy all your chatter, it's like being part of a big fat flung family. š
I've had a wonderful 2024 so far, really enjoyed spending time with my friend's family, sadly they've gone home now, but I went to a party on Saturday, I was so tired I nearly didn't go, but I don't like letting people down, especially as I'd rsvp'd to say yes. Anyway, it was lovely, met new people, caught up with old friends too. Just an awful drive to and from, and of course I couldn't drink, but had a really good time anyway..
I also dipped my toe into online dating, but actually, I'm not impressed, talk about kissing a lot of frogs š± Anyway, I'm joining a ramblers group when I get back instead. š
I have toyed with starting a thread on here for (virtual) lonely hearts but the way the mods are going I might get banned, I'm just conscious though that sometimes lonely singletons, or even contented singleton's might have things they'd want to share with people in a similar situation. Not looking at setting up a dating site that's for sure! š
Have a good evening all, I hope to be sharing photos of sunny Spain very soon! š

You're doing better than me @punkdoc

Last two days frantically getting organised for being away, all done, and now, a glass of wine, pack and leave at 6 in the morning for Paris, ticket to the MusĆ©e de Orsay and then flight to Alicante 6am Wednesday, meeting my friend at the airport 30 minutes after I arrive. Heaven.Ā
