Hi @tui34, appointment went ok., physio on Friday. The spinal anaesthetic was fine, I was sedated as well, so was aware of nothing. Some people ask to be fully awake, but I feel this does not allow theatre staff to behave “normally” and anyway I have seen quite enough hip replacements, very noisy and brutal.

Morning all,  all white here, 0.5 at the moment,  but we have sun for now, but predicted to cloud over. Boiler service went OK yesterday, he came in the middle of lunch (of course). Hardly there more than 25 mins recons they do 8 a day. Easy money for mfcr, as they make you pay upfront.  Probably should put this on curmudgeon thread.

  • Morning all,

Sunny here, not Egypt hot, but warm enough to wear shorts so I'm happy with that.

Went to a show last night, all very entertaining, good fun and relaxing, just what I need.

We're off for a walk along the beach today, check out the route for our hike tomorrow.

Have a good day all, hope you get some rest @punkdoc

Yes, I am resting @coccinella  - have done a bit of tidying and HW.  Need to have things orderly before I sit!!  But slowly slowly.   i have been going to physio since November for my right hip and knee.  This "accident" happened to my left side.  Anyway, I am going to physio on Monday as she wants to see me before x-rays and surgeon on Friday.

Wondered about that @punkdoc   The noise as they wrench the old hip out of its socket!!    (Then you realise where the surgery pain comes from!!!)

Can't even say the south of France is warmer @WonkyWomble   We are getting a really cold blast with snow a little further inland and plenty of rain for the plain.  We need it.  It's stopped now and nearly not enough - but it's nice.  It's a balmy 5°C here and no wind.

That's a swift boiler check @Allotment Boy   My lovely chap charged me 157€ and he is here for just over an hour.  He changes the something or others and vacuums out the back of it and wipes some of the parts with kerosene or turps or something smelly.  He also gives a whiff up the flou!!!!   (Couldn't stop laughing when I wrote that - but you know what I mean ....and you never know your luck!!) :D:D:D

Gosh I must be getting bored!!

Morning all, froze overnight but not too bad now, sunshine and up to 3c. OH has just gone off to get the paper and exercise while I stay here as the cleaners have arrived.
Had to have a quick tidy round and shove things in cupboards before they got here!
It helps them if surfaces are clear and we are not the tidiest of people, although I must admit I have been much much tidier since they started which is good.

I'm still not accepted on the NHS app but the Helpline is looking into it, I've had about 12 emails so far with different enquiries so at least they are trying to get me online.
We heard nothing from our Surgery @Ergates about registration and weren't asked to provide ID. The Receptionist told me that we'd all been put on automatically in February - not sure what she meant. My OH hasn't had any of this rigmarole, he got in straight away and wasn't asked for any ID. Strange.

We need a boiler check soon @Allotment Boy as our new boiler will be a year old in February. Hope it's not expensive. We have the double glazing service engineer coming next week as one of the patio doors has 'dropped'. The gap is stuffed with tissues.

Have a good day everyone and keep warm.

@tui34, the noisiest bit is sawing through the top of the femur and hammering a hole in the bone to take the prosthesis, but some people love it. I know in the private sector some people buy videos of their surgery, perhaps they show them at parties.

Morning all, I think the temperature might just go above freezing today, the sun is trying to to get through the cloud/mist.
When I was doing my nurse training and doing my stint in theatres, the two things I hated most were hips and eyes!
Glad to hear you have had a whiff up your flue @tui34 that should stop any problems for a while!!
One of our large slider doors is also stuffed with tissues @Lizzie27, the seal has gone on it and the wind whistles through. They were only installed last year and the chap who installed them has since died, he was a one man business so I guess we will have to pay another company to re-seal them.
  • Afternoon all.
Merciless North wind blowing here.  Walking on the coastal path this morning it made my eyes water.  I have dry eye, so this was actually a pleasant change :)
Hung the washing out at 8 o'clock this morning.  It was still dark, but there is one of those motion-activated lights covering the back yard, so it was OK provided that I periodically waved my arms around (although I suspect anyone watching might have questioned my sanity...)
I hope everyone can be fitted in @Busy-Lizzie and I hope that you all have a wonderful time together.
Hopefully your problems accessing your NHS records will soon be over @Lizzie27
Best wishes for your recovery @tui34
I wish you a happy time meeting your friend for coffee @coccinella
Continuing best wishes for your recovery to @punkdoc
    Stay safe out there folks.

Had to laugh at the thought of you waving your arms in the garden, @Badly_Maintained! We have a motion activated light in the ‘downstairs’ loo, the timing is usually adequate for most visits, but I do have to warn visitors that should the light go out, they’ll need to wave their arms around!
