@Allotment Boy I'm lucky to have @Dovefromabove that knits every kind of gap covering equipment you could possibly dream of including the gloves! 🥰 Bless her! Thank you @Dovefromabove/Mum x

Hello all, from a hotel near Caen. Thank you @Badly_Maintained. The drive was fine but there was snow on the sides of the motorway when we reached Normandy.

We had a delicious seafood meal in the restaurant and met some other people also taking the early morning ferry.

There is a noisy family down the corridor, I hope I can sleep.

    Good morning

Hope you are already on your ferry @Busy-Lizzie
@WonkyWomble and @Dovefromabove you two are lovely 🤗

The red alert has been extended to schools, all closed. And no post today either. I saw one bloke in the distance who fell but got himself up and walked on his knees back to the block of flats where he originated. It is really treacherous out there. My heart has behaved so far. They made no food recommendations at the hospital but I am on decaf tea and coffee. It could be worse.

    Good morning all.

Better sleep tonight @Busy-Lizzie   Bon voyage!!

The weather sounds dangerous @coccinella  Stay indoors and warm.

The weather here has turned mild but damp - there is mist in the air and the tiles are "condensation" wet.  Dismal skies.  No good for hips and knees.  I am still getting around on one crutch which is very frustrating.  Rest has been prescribed but easier said than done now.  Things need doing.  I don't want to take anti inflammatories or painkillers, so sit around with hot water bottle on my lap.  Only thing to do apparently.

I hope everyone is keeping as warm as possible - I pity @WonkyWomble having to work in such extreme temperatures.  In my younger days in NZ, I worked on a grape grafting unit which was inside and outside work but my favourite was in an orchid house supporting the blooms before cutting.  What a sight on a grey rainy day - all the colours.  Lifted spirits no end!!

I hope everyone has an enjoyable day!

  • Morning all,

I've just landed in Paris, where it's -2, a bit of a shock to the system. 😱

A morning in a museum ahead of me then the train at 2:30, meeting Charlie for dinner later, I'll be ready for my bed tonight.

The airline company offered me a free transfer to a flight next week as they were overbooked, sunbathing in that 22° I was sorely tempted.... slightly regretting I refused it now.

Good day all, stay warm any way you can.

  • Morning all.
    Continued best wishes to @coccinella
According to the news last night, it seems to be the most Northerly 15% or so of this island which has been affected by snow.  They had road closures, school closures etc.  Here there is a little snow above around 750m, but no more than a hard frost and the very occasional icy patch on pavements down here.  Rest assured, this neck of the woods will almost certainly get a share of the horrors of Winter before the joys of Spring, but just not today.
Hope you are having a safe voyage on the ferry @Busy-Lizzie
    I hope for a pain-free day for you @tui34
Glad you had a wonderful holiday @D0rdogne_Damsel
Keep as warm as possible @WonkyWomble
    Stay safe out there folks.

Afternoon everyone,  cold but dry, sadly no sun so feels much colder.  We have a blocked drain to deal with,  I got home yesterday from physio appointment, more on that later, desperate for the loo only to be told don't use downside one it's not draining very well. Lifted the outside trap cover and  quelle horror . I shifted  it but it's still slow and my drain rods aren't long enough to get rifgt through so have been out and got more.  Seems you can't buy caustic soda crystals anymore so paid £11 for a bottle of essentially same thing.
I  suspect one of our visitors put something down they shouldn't have.  Cousins youngest is Autistic,  and has a habit of "hiding" things 🤨.
