So you do BL, I'd forgotten that. Hope you manage to get it planted soon then. Nice to have your grandmother's carved chair. Wonder if my kids will keep any of my projects.

Hope your tummy is better soon @Busy-Lizzie. Lots of really cosy socks at Gallyons in Norwich.

they sell online and also have two shops in Norwich … one behind Jerrolds and one near the big Barclays

… and my friend bought a gorgeous palomino Welsh Cob colt from them a good few years back I went with her to check him out … he turned into a fabulous chap. ❤️

Morning everyone. Strange weather for January. We’ve woken to wet ground and 22 degrees. The hills aren’t visible. Hmmm. I don’t get it.

A misty day all day, so here are a couple of photos.  Oops, need to wait for a couple of minutes.

    Good morning all  :) ☕️
Another dry start to the day here 😊  I’ve just discovered that not only have next door been in Australia for six weeks, but so have the folk in the corner house, due back today … they’ve been mainly staying with friends in the Brisbane area … no wonder it’s seemed quiet around here.

    Morning all.

Tummy is a lot better this morning, no more griping pains.

Thank you @Dovefromabove for the sock link, but they are the most expensive socks I've ever seen!

    No frost this morning.

Well yes @Busy-Lizzie … it’s a shop mostly used by the County Set. I was able to get Bro some of those long thick woolly socks that are worn with tweedy knickerbockers when grouse shooting in Scotland … just what he needed … he was very pleased. 😇 But they are very warm 🧦 🧦

And the shops often have very good savings on sale items, if you’re not fussy about colour.  It’s worth having a look if you’re passing.

    Good morning all

@Lizzie27 I can confirm that the sparkly black underwear from M&S does not scratch, I have one. At the moment though that would be too light for me. 🥶

Thank you @didyw, it is easy when you are awake at five!
Your story about society talks reminds me of the Detectorists, who of course have taken the idea from observing these meetings in real life. Incidentally on Monday we have a guided visit (and talk🤪) of Villa Pauly whose many uses throughout its life included being the Gestapo headquarters during the occupation.

I am astounded that you can do any gardening at all @Allotment Boy and @Lizzie27. Chapeau!

OH is going for the sunday walk with friend but it is far too cold for me.

    Take care all

@coccinella … The hall where the Detectorists held their meetings was St Michael’s Rooms in Framlingham … the place where we had gym and country dancing lessons, sat our ‘O’ level exams and watched films via an old projector and portable screen at the end of each school year … I remember Alec Guinness in Kind Hearts & Coronets clearly … the film usually snapped or got tangled at some stage 😂

    Afternoon all.
The following information has been in the public domain for centuries, perhaps even millennia, so I must emphasise strongly that none of it is anything which I personally have discovered.  However I'm sharing it just in case it is even slightly helpful to anyone.
Ginger (available as tablets or capsules, or crystallised in sugar if you have a sweet tooth) is very effective in suppressing nausea; for example the nausea which accompanies migraines, or motion sickness, etc.
Peppermint oil (again available as capsules) is useful for relieving stomach cramps and painful trapped wind (and I'm told relieves the symptoms of IBS).  Peppermint tea does the same, but to a much lesser extent.
Chamomile tea taken in the evening promotes restful sleep (obviously don't take it before driving and so on).
Apologies if everyone already knew all these things, but I just mentioned them in case there might possibly be someone who doesn't.

I'd imagine your children will keep all of your woodwork projects as treasured family heirlooms @Lizzie27 I'm very impressed to hear of your skills.  Have a safe journey on Tuesday.
Glad to hear your upset tummy has settled down again @Busy-Lizzie
I hope you enjoy your tour of the villa @coccinella
Hope you enjoyed your comfort spaghetti @Ergates It sounds very tasty and also fortifying.
That is what I must get myself sometime @Dovefromabove much warmer socks.
With any luck the film of the Vermeer exhibition will be wonderful @didyw
General good wishes, as always, to @AnnaB

Weather here is forecast to become dramatically colder from this evening until next weekend.  Stay safe and warm everyone.
