Hello again everyone, I already said Happy new Year on the end of the December thread but saying it again to all in case anyone missed it.
Sorry to hear about your pain @punkdoc. I am still suffering with my elbow and upper arm ever since my bit of DIY on the Saturday before Christmas. It doesn't seem to be improving much either so I might have to give in and try to get to GP.
Haven't done much today except a bit of SM shopping as we are doing another meal for family tomorrow. The visitors go home on the 4th so my wife offered another meal to help daughter out as they have been hosting most of the time. Rather foolishly she is feeling a bit of pressure after the Restaurant meal the other day, trying to convince her that this is only a simple family dinner is not working at the moment. It won't be as elaborate as Christmas but that won't stop her trying to do something special.

Poor @punkdoc. I think it’s a deliberate plan in hospital to dose everyone up to the eyeballs with painkillers to ensure they are happy and confident to go home. No fun after the heavy duty stuff wears off. I’m sure you are taking everything recommended at the appropriate doses and frequencies. It does always seem to get worse before it gets better.
Still cross eyed after lunch time fizz. No point trying to read my book, as I’ll probably forget it all and have to re read it. Gave up on Midsomer Murders, OH has switched over to a version of Robin Hood. I have absolutely no idea what’s going on, and all the costumes look suspiciously twentieth century. Gave up on that! Maybe a nap now.. It’ll be good to get back to some sort of routine from tomorrow

I am very fortunate in that I was given the whole gamut of drugs available to take home with me, because they trust me to manage them properly.
The pressure to get patients out of hospital is huge, the nurses say they are told to get hips out in less than 48 hours.

Gosh that is a bit quick @punkdoc. Have you been able to get up and walk about a bit yet? I'm sure that counts as exercise. OH was given a very slippery red plastic sheet to put on the bed to do his exercises on, easier to move the leg they said. Do hope the pain eases soon, nothing's worse.

I've just had a phone call from my SIL, my poorly brother's wife who's been hospitalised since last Thursday with an uncontrollable asthma attack. Spent 24 hours in A&E at Stoke, absolutely bedlam, 17 ambulances queued up outside her ward window since early am today and the poor nurses are rushed off their feet. She's going to be in there for another week while the medics gradually adjust all the pills she's currently on. Her grandchildren are stepping up and helping my brother (in his wheelchair) to go and in see her daily. Fortunately he's still able to drive (although I don't think he should) but the added stress is not doing his heart condition any good at all.

I was hoping 2024 was going to be better for my family healthwise.

Happy New Year to all Forkers - whether you are an OG, regular poster, new face, or a just looking in type.

I’ll be having an early night here as a busy day in work and a sore throat have wiped me out. Leccy blanket, hot vimto and a podcast will lead me into the land of nod…

So pleased to hear the wonderful news regarding your parents @Badly_Maintained and many thanks for your good wishes for 2024.

Best wishes and healing thoughts to all suffering from health problems right now and to those of you with family members also suffering.

Awful news coming from Japan, too similar to the Boxing Day Tsunami for comfort.

After a dry morning the rain has now returned and the wind increasing again. When will it ever stop?

Morning everyone.  Another quiet day planned for us with predictions of two days of rain.  So far it’s cloudy but fine. 👏👏

    Hello Forkers,

Flood warnings issued for today and tomorrow. The ground here is absolutely soaked. But no rain yesterday so we managed a wee walk .
Sorry to hear about your SIL @Lizzie27. Hopefully she'll be out of hospital soon, not a good start for your family.
OTOH @Badly_Maintained has given us good news.
@punkdoc one day at a time. Patience does it.
I am hoping to get to the pool today, must move otherwise back pain gets worse.
    Take care.
