Morning all, a dry start here but I can't make use of it. The visitors fly home today and my wife is helping with the Airport run. I am stuck at home waiting for a fridge engineer. There was a puddle on the kitchen floor this morning😱
Hopefully not an expensive problem @Allotment Boy .... you have checked the drain at the back of the fridge? It can sometimes get blocked by detritus, especially at Christmastime when fridges can be rammed full ... a gentle poke around in the hole can dislodge an errant cranberry, lump of Stilton or whatever, clear the drain and cure the problem. Just a thought.

Morning everybody, just! All behind this morning as due to a disturbed night we didn't wake up till 10 ish. I'm just sitting with a coffee, trying to come to. OH has gone to fetch the paper before the anticipated deluge starts again. I had planned to sweep the drive and get rid of the debris and perhaps cut back the soggy remains of ceratostigma plumbaginoids (what a mouthful!) on the edge of the small driveway wall but not in the mood now. I've got the washing on so haven't been completely lazy.
Hope the deluge doesn't make life too difficult for folks.
My SIL is hoping to be discharged today so she will be very relieved. As an ex nursing Theatre Sister of the old school, she had been somewhat critical of modern nursing methods. The old adage is probably true that medics make the worst patients.
The online deliveries must be a godsend to those not so able @didyw, hope you can help to get more information on the Boots closure. Happening all over the country apparently.
Glad you slept better @punkdoc, makes all the difference.
not raining at the moment. Hooray 🙄. This morning I got soaked on my way to buy bread, no point in umbrellas really. During the night the wind has undressed my laurel so this afternoon OH helped me putting back the covers, frost expected later in the week.
I am glad you had some sleep @punkdoc. You could do with another good night so fingers crossed for you.
That’s a step in the right direction @punkdoc. Definitely progress. Hope it continues. Horrid out here. The patio is completely flooded, the soakaway is obviously already full. Luckily it will just run down the pathway and won’t cause any damage to the house.
We took ourselves out to do some shopping, extremely lucky to grab a space right outside Dunelm, I’ve bought a mattress topper in their sale. Will see if that is a help to my achey hip. A quick walk round Ikea, taking advantage of the under cover parking. Both stores very busy, looks like sales fever. Home for lunch, with a cheeky glass of Lidl Riesling to wash it down. Lots of standing water collecting on the main road, I must check if the neighbouring village is ok. The River Otter bursts its banks at any excuse, and the primary school playground is frequently under water. Hope everyone is staying safe and dry.
lol coccinella you don’t know my cats, I don’t understand it but they are both obsessed with water so go out in whatever is thrown at us, I’m hoping they will grow out of it as nothing worse than “ hi mum, I’m home, feel my nice wet cold feet!”. The lid is really sturdy and well closed so I’m pretty sure it was not the wind.
hope everyone has had a good day.
Marne la vallée, basically just outside Paris 🇫🇷, but definitely Scottish at heart.
I cleaned the bedroom, kitchen and bathroom this morning.
After lunch I went to the big GC and bought roses and 1 shrub, a burning bush, sort of Euonymus, which I may give to Son 2 for his part shady area. Can't resist roses. The David Austin roses were in pots and only 15€, a lot cheaper than in the UK. I wonder why? The other roses were 12€. Gentle Hermione, Olivia Rose Austin, Annapurna (a white very scented HT), and Super Trouper to go in the Jewel Bed. OH likes orange roses.
Had a chat with my youngest brother on the phone. He's just moved house, downsized, nearer his daughter, lives in Scotland.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
@Jacquimcmahon, the same thing happened to my polycarbonate growhouse which is up against a fence. I'm pretty sure a neighbouring cat jumped onto the fence then down onto the growhouse roof which stove in. Polycarbonate does get brittle in time. Haven't yet repaired ours, I've just tied a tarpaulin over the top for now.

@Ergates I love that owl. 😍
@Jacquimcmahon even a gust of wind could have caused it, would cats be out in this weather? Hope you can still protect your plants.
