@Ergates....i sympathise, my right hip aches constantly.... At 47 years old i know it's a long time before anyone will look at this seriously. I've found that a pillow between my knees raises my hip to a level that it's not self supported and a pillow behind me prevents me rolling over. I have a firm mattress with a memory foam mattress topper.
Another one here who was digging into a Gallet du rois….not my first and definitely not my last this January…. Some things in France are worth the hassles.
Ergates I have to admit we have taken off the mattress topper. Made me sweat too much and I had to fully wake up to turn over.
Lizzie 27, I sympathize with the smoke alarm they are a pain when they go wrong.
spent today at Costco, only went to buy cheddar (much cheaper than French supermarket and really strong mature one too), of course stocked up on a few other bits too.
we have started to tackle the long awaited “declutter”…. Today was respectively his and hers desks.
Also found out last night that my mums dog has now been adopted, makes me happy to know he has gone to a good home for his golden years. The person who fostered him for the last 10 weeks contacted me and said he is a credit to my mum and dad as he is the most calm and “gentlemanly “ dog she has ever known. Apparently she wanted to keep him but her husband does not want another permanent dog, just short term fosters. She sent me some beautiful photos as a souvenir.
Marne la vallée, basically just outside Paris 🇫🇷, but definitely Scottish at heart.
@floralies I agree with @Lizzie27 about your hip. It will only get worse. I know the waiting list in France is much shorter than in England but wouldn't it be good to get it over and done with? My OH is so much better since his hip replacement.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Thank you @Lizzie27 and @Busy-Lizzie for your concern about my hip. It actually hasn't got any worse over the past year. I know this must sound ungrateful to those waiting so long for a replacement but I have some pressing things to get done in the next few months, so hopefully later in the year.
Good evening, Forkers. Hopefully you are slowly improving Punkdoc. Tui34 when you said you had a keratosis "burnt", off,did you actually mean with heat? I had one removed a few years ago with liquid nitrogen, didnt leave a mark. Talking of.... routine appointment on Friday with the dermatologist, did the "while I'm here, could you have a look at a legion on my chest". Showed it to my GP in passing in 2019, he said it was just a spot. Well it's "done things"! I knew what I thought, and she confirmed it. I haven't got a quote (I saw her privately, after a year of agony and misdiagnosis) there is a standard fee listed for mole check and removal there and then includes pathology, but not for malignancies. I also have a "thing" on my left arm, which she wants to biopsy. Great start to the new year!! Just binged on The light we cannot see. Hope everyone is ok.
Hi @Pat E. Just woken up and popped outside to see the stars! It’s only 2C here at the moment, and a very clear, dry night. I didn’t stay out long, just a few minutes outside the back door where it’s dark, and the outside lights don’t come on automatically. There was an owl somewhere near, hooting away. Going to try and get back to sleep again! Hope you have a few days peace from blood tests.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
