Happy new year to everyone and thanks for starting us off @Dovefromabove.

I'm sure your hip pains will ease @punkdoc and @tui34.  Gently does it.

We watched Graham Norton (loved the band - The Ezra Collective) then off to bed for us.

Nothing much on today - will have to nip out for milk at some point.  We were having it delivered but found that the milk went off far sooner than it should have done, made even worse by the deliveries going down to just 2 days a week.

Also keeping fingers crossed for Japan.  We were all in Spain for Christmas (visiting my daughter who lived there) with my mum when the last one hit, on the Boxing Day.  That was also when my daughter announced she was pregnant with our eldest granddaughter.  It was the last Christmas we had with my Mum before she died, so quite memorable.

Thank you @Badly_Maintained. I wish you a happy year too, so glad it has started with such good news about your parents.

I've just been outside to get in the logs and do the New Year flower count. I have hardly anything in flower. The garden is waterlogged and more rain is forecast.

I saw the sun rise at @ 8.30. Daughter & I watched the concert from Vienna which has become our New Year tradition. The sun shone on us all the way through (though not in Austria!) and is still shining now. Haven't seen  so much sun for months,  do hope it bodes well for this year to come :)

Thanks Badly _Maintained, and the same from me to everyone on here. I do love your nickname, might change mine to "well maintained woman". 😂

Afternoon everybody and Happy New Year to you all and thanks to Dove for starting the new thread so well.
Such good news about your parents @Badly_Maintained and thank you for your good wishes.
I'm really pleased that I did some gardening, it actually wasn't raining this morning and we even saw some sunshine. Did the flower count which was nearly double my last year's one so that was encouraging. I do think it very important if you have a big enough garden (and I'm very fortunate I know) to include as many winter flowering plants as possible to cheer up these dark winter days.

I'm looking forward to my daughter coming back up tomorrow - she left her laptop behind which she needs for job hunting so it's going to be just a flying overnight visit.

Hope @punkdoc and @tui34 are continuing to improve.

So pleased to hear the good news about your parents @Badly_Maintained.
Thank you, too, for your good wishes.
Its just beginning to cloud over a bit now, but it’s been a much better day than of late.

What a lovely post, @Badly_Maintained! So pleased that your parents are feeling better.
A Happy New Year to you too.
Hope the painkillers are starting to work better, @punkdoc. Does a shot of booze enhance the effects at all? Dare you risk it? At least there is a selection of non challenging TV to distract you. Groundhog Day, anyone? Poirot?
We have had a delicious lunch of leftover turkey, pigs in blankets and chips from the airfryer! Managed to refill the bird feeders, and take some pics of flowers before lunch, and get some laundry on. Two glasses of cremant de limoux with lunch, and I’m not planning on doing much else this afternoon. OH has already dozed off on the sofa, (despite no alcohol) so I think I’ll mute the sound on Midsomer Murders and stick my nose in a book.
Hope all are feeling a bit positive about the dawn of a new year, a chance for new starts for some of us. And best wishes for strength for those with further challenges to face.

    Hi

Still in a lot of pain, this hip is certainly far worse than the first. Hopefully will start to settle soon as very difficult to do exercises.
