Glad to hear that you are now starting to see an improvement @punkdoc. I’m guessing that you’ll now progress in leaps and bounds. A lovely sunny day here, so we’ve gone out for breakfast and hopefully a walk, although it’s going to be muddy. Our enjoyment is somewhat marred by the two ladies at the adjoining table, who are having a long conversation at the tops of their voices. We have heard far too much about their family situations, plenty of dubious advice being given and received! I suppose we could move, but we have a nice view here, and have made ourselves comfortable. I’ve suggested to OH that he puts his earphones in!
I’ve been known to politely interrupt such conversations and give them the benefit of my accumulated wisdom @Ergates … it usually brings such conversations to a rapid conclusion 🤪

you make me laugh Dove, I would never have the courage to do that!
Good morning everyone,
as it happens @tui34 we have bought a small Galette this morning. Lux is too close to France not to adopt their customs especially culinary ones 😋 Today is indeed the epiphany when the 3 kings finally reach Bethlehem. From Rome to the rest of southern Italy today is Befana day, or day of the good witch who brings sweets to good children. I too got a presy: a voucher from a well known GC online here in Europe and will spend the afternoon looking at goodies, luvly 😊.
How did you find the mattress topper @Ergates? Courage @punkdoc, you will soon be where you want to be, or very near 💪
I hope I will find the will to put away the Christmas decs.
Hello all, it's a cold grey day here but not as cold as it will be next week! We shall be having our Galette de Roi next Sunday at our Salle des Fetes, washed down with a tipple or two and a natter with all our neighbours in the village. Glad to hear of your improvement @punkdoc, onwards and upwards now! I have decided not to have my next hip done yet as I have a lot going on at the moment, so I hope it behaves itself for the time being!
I have resisted temptation to buy a galette, trying to lose weight - again!
You will be the same age as me at the end of the month @Dovefromabove. I don't feel any different mentally it's just that the body is less efficient and aches more.
Only HW and general tidying planned for today. I will be collecting OH from the airport tomorrow. I'm not taking down the tree or the few decorations until after he is here.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I have washing on the line!! It probably won’t completely dry but the sun can do some work.
I have been reading the first chapter in my Gardener’s Almanac book and it said how even a short time spent in the garden in January can feel so good, so uplifting and such a steal - I quite agree. Funny story with the Almananc book - it is a Christmas gift from my sister, and I gifted her… the Farmer’s Almanac! They are similar as a month by month guide to the seasons with the gardener one more plants and wildlife and the farmer one more weather, the moon and nature. They are both really lovely little books.
Have a good weekend all. Cherish the small wins and the little things, and get some fresh air if you are able (Nb. cold spell imminent for most in UK).
@coccinella … being a white haired old woman has liberated me and given me a courage I never had before … after all … they can always just say I’m a daft old bat can’t they? I’ll know they’re wrong (and so will you) but they might just doubt themselves when they reflect on it … 🤪
