@Helen P3 I fully understand your reaction. I required a hip replacement and was told by the consultant that the waiting list was about 18 months. When I received a letter with an appointment date exactly 1 year after seeing the consultant I felt like I'd won the lottery. Hope everything goes well for you.
@rowlandscastle444 I hope you're doing well and will soon be back out exploring your new garden!
RTBC for me? I don't have to wear a headlamp when I'm out doing barn chores, either in the morning or at night. I wish the US would do away with daylight saving time, because when March 10th rolls around, it's going to put me back in the dark for a while.

I'm truly sorry about the delays you're facing, KT53. I think we need a full change in the proper place, so we can have a dependable NHS, for which we all pay: except for the very rich, perhaps?
No, you haven't missed anything Dove, it seems @KT53 and @Helen P3 have misread recent posts and got confused.
My RTBC today is that we're celebrating 17 years since we bought this house - doesn't time fly! It was a wreck, having been empty for 18 months and not refurbished since the 1980's but I could see the potential, a very quiet area, beautiful scenic views and a good bus service into town. Edited to add, it also came with a big garden!
Is it me? … I thought @KT53 said he’s had his op with a shorter wait than expected … have I missed something? 😵💫
You're right @Dovefromabove, I had the operation in February last year. I saw the consultant a couple of weeks ago for the 12 month check up and there has been no change from the x-ray 2 months after the op. Possibly even more pleasing is that there is no sign of any deterioration in the other hip at all.
Wow!! Thank you for all the best wishes for a recovery. Sitting here in hospital, not knowing when I will go home. I asked, but the usual shrug of shoulders and response of "not yet"!!
To be honest, the head hurts (unsurprisingly). I'm told that they did their best, and might be able to tell whether any there is actually an improvement, within the next few months. It certainly doesn't feel like it today, but they reckon they prevented a further brain abscess from forming.
A big thank you to the staff of King's College Hospital and Guy's Hospital, for investigating and operating.
Been for a scan this afternoon. They tell me nothing!! But, I'm alive, and still standing (okay, sitting). My sense of humour is unchanged - not sure the wife will appreciate that. She was hoping they might improve it.
But, whether there will be a reduction in seizures, is anyone's guess. Thank you to so many of you. It's humbling!

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
