Totally agree about the inconsistency in clothing sizes. I’ve tried on trousers in M and S, same style and size, but in different colours. Supposedly identical but several inches difference in length and width. Buying shoes in somewhere like TKMaxx with lots of different brands, I just try on anything I like the look of, regardless of size, I seem to fit anything from 5 to 6.5 depending on the style. It does make buying on line very difficult, I do hate the faff involved in returning things.
It's called a handbag @B3 tho these days it can be a shoulder bag, a cross-body, banana or bum bag and many more forms that don't ruin the hang of your jacket.

I'm with you, @B3. Hate carrying a handbag, even a cross-body one which is the only sort I can cope with. I never was a "girly" girl and don't intend to start now...
I have been known to sew secret pockets into jacket linings. Much safer than a handbag.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
I prefer my clothes to be loose and comfortable so the line isn't an issue . I have one jacket with a secret pocket. I still use my handbag for other things but my purse goes in the pocket. That's a good diy idea @Liriodendron
@B3 we have recently made small pockets - just big enough to carry a mobile phone and bank cards and a few notes. A thin cross body strap makes it a portable pocket for wearing under or over jackets, jumpers, blouses.
Very discrete and no messing with pockets in linings. Surely possible to find some online.
