Good morning all. It has been a long, long night. I was awakened in the early hours by the tiles on my roof rattling in the wind. Too dark to see if anything in the garden has been overturned again but the moon looks beautiful - it will be full moon tomorrow. I am picking up a friend and meeting my Sis and another friend for breakfast at a GC near me. Of course I will just have to have a quick look around!

Good morning all. Long and tiring day yesterday. Funeral was a church service followed by a burial but only close family attended that part. Very upsetting but the family of the deceased were pleased to see fiancΓ© and grateful that we had made the effort.
work today and then babysitting Thomas this evening.Β
Windy here but not excessively so, I think we are fairly sheltered here.Β

Good morning Debs. Funerals are sombre occasions. Did you have a good visit with fiancΓ©'s uncle? Hope you are not too shattered after work to manage the babysitting!

@Ladybird4 we didn’t stay long as fiancΓ©s uncle goes to bed very early. I have been fortunate in that I have never before attended the funeral of a young person. I was a little shocked that so few mourners were dressed smartly. Probably the modern way but it seems disrespectful. Surely everyone has black clothes? It was a lovely service though and very well attended.Β

Morning all. Very windy and noisy night and it's still blowing this morning. It's very mild though so have fed the birds and replaced blown off some with a better one, checked the garden over but no damage anywhere. Debs, times are changing rapidly regarding lots off traditions and life in general. The last couple of funerals we attended were very respectful in black attire, but then, the people who attended and the deceased himself were of the older generation so still showed the respect of old. Perhaps the younger generations ' celebrate a life' rather than mourn a loss. I don't know but we do as we have always done and likely as not, so will they. Either way, they are hard , sad events to go to. LB, hope you have a nice time with sister and friend and hope it won't be as cold in the gc as ours were. Wrap up warm.

I've been doing quite a bit of research since mums house has sold to try and find somewhere to stay overnight( if necessary) when we visit her now. There are surprisingly very few hotels and even less bed and breakfast places where mum lives. And they are really quite expensive for what they offer.

Β Our choice has come down to a Premier Inn which is a few miles away from mums town but at least we can just book for one night and can get breakfast. What a chore this is going to be now. We will try and continue doing the visit in a day for as long as we can but it so far away and such a long car journey for us nowadays.

Β We are waiting in this morning for a chap to come and do his annual inspection of the house alarm and change all the batteries. Anytime up until 12.30pm.

    Morning all,

Yup - last night was definitely worse @Ladybird4

There was incessant banging all night. I wondered if some guttering or a drainpipe had come loose and was flapping against the house. From what I can tell from a quick survey this morning, it was next door's side gate slamming against a wheelie bin :o I got very little sleep so trying to work (whilst folk on a scaffold 2 doors up have their 'music' [noise] pumping loud enough to match their drilling) this morning isn't what I would be doing, ideally!

The lid on my leaf mould bin has come off and blown across the back lawn and that seems to be the extent of the damage that I can see so far :). The garden waste bin is, remarkably, still upright waiting for collection.

Good afternoon all. Had a good catch up at the GC this morning and I came home with three pots of snowdrops and a new squirrel proof (alledgedly!) bird feeder. I've just finished planting out the snowdrops and it is not too bad outside. Pleased I've got that job done.
