I stand corrected and apologise to her parents. Hunter is her married name, Sanders her maiden name. So they avoided Electric and Wood, before plumping for Storm ;)Β

Can you tell I'm having a quiet work day whilst watching the tennis?Β

I think we passed our medicals LB. The doctor was a 14 year old πŸ˜‰ dressed as a fortune teller who looked as though she was taking a morning out of her holiday to earn some extra pennies. She said she was based in Spain but not there at the moment. From the huts and people in the background it looked like she was in the Carribean.

Her senior has the final word about being fit to undertake the expedition - but she had no doubt we would be approved. They're more concerned with mobility -ie whether or not we can get in and out of the zodiacs safely (more difficult than you might think with my little legs!) or whether we're likely to keel over at a moment's notice. Bearing in mind that they've passed 90+ year olds and stick and frame users, I'm not forseeing problems!

@biglad - enjoy the tennis! Get on with your work!

T'Bird. I wonder if you will get chance to see the A23a iceberg whilst you are there. It looks absolutely amazing. Something that weighs up to a trillion tons would be hard to miss.

LB - HX (the company we travel with) offer several different trips in the Antarctic area (for example some go to Sth Georgia and some go to the Falklands in addition to spending a few days around the Antarctic peninsular). There have been some photos of this giant iceberg on the Faceache page for the expeditions. Whether our trip will take us past it I don't know.

Obviously there are favoured routes and landing spots for the ships but the actual route taken is entirely weather / conditions dependent. No guarantee of anything - but I'll be surprised if we don't see lots of whales. It's the season for them. Did you see the Beluga whale in Scottish waters yesterday? Beautiful, beautiful creatures.Β

Afties all.,Late on parade this morning but a delivery came really early ( miracle has happened) so we went out to local SM and then into town. It was quite busy considering the weather but we walked from one end to t'other and got thoroughly frozen to death. But it was worth it as we managed to pick up some little surprises for 23 which I know he'll love.😊 ( I do Β too🀭). Also stocked up with more bird food as the local bird population have found their desired garden and are eating us out of house and home. πŸ˜‚
The deliveryΒ Β was a beautiful chenille cardigan for mum for her 103 rd birthday but it was so very nice and fit me so very nicely too that I've kept it for myself ( selfish womanπŸ€ͺπŸ€ͺ) but I have ordered another one for her. My OH gave me a most lovely compliment when I paraded around in said cardigan so, what Β could I do....πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ˜‚

I most certainly did see it T'Bird. Such an ethereal vision. It will be lovely if you get to see humpbacks and killer whales. A blue whale would be the real icing on the cake. I can understand about various landings being very weather dependent too.
I think you did the right thing Hazel and it will be nice knowing your Mum has one similar to yours.

Topbird it will be wonderful seeing whales and the such like but don't forget to stock up on your thermals. πŸ™‚
Ive managed to get the door to the greenhouse open and found lots of snapdragon seedlings have been affected by the freezing temperatures. They look a very sorry sight. Have brought one Β or two pots inside to see if I can salvage them.
