    Morning all (from the CA),

Phone making a silly noise at 6.15am - "Alerting notifications - Apps slated for deep sleep. These are apps you haven't used in a while... blah, blah" The irony of receiving that at that time?! For apps I don't want, haven't downloaded and have certainly never used. Honestly, the bleedin' thing needs chucking in the canal!

Been out to collect the milk. 3 pints means that Mr. Milkman is going away for the weekend! Marching up some big hills I'll wager. It didn't feel as cold as I was expecting. Fingers crossed for unfrozen ground over the weekend.

When I find my Govt Gateway log-on details (hopefully before the tax return submission deadline ;)), I'm going to check how many years state pension I've 'earned' @Ladybird4. I'll need the full whack of that to go with a couple of piddly pension pots that I've acquired along the way. I do have a couple of other modest 'income streams' (I believe is the current vernacular), which I'm hoping to expand when I start saying no to job offers. Could be a few years yet :(

Morning @Biglad I can totally empathise with the random 'notifications' about putting Apps to sleep and you can't even delete/uninstall some of them.
As for your immediate future - rant away to us. We can't do much apart from offering a sympathetic ear.

    Morning all.

Frosty this morning. Forecast says sunny but it will be cold. I have so much I wanted to do in the garden before we go to England next week.

@Biglad, so maddening. Could you put your phone on mute before you go to bed or do you need the alarm?

Good morning everyone. It is still very cold . I expected to see snow this morning when I opened the curtains. No snow but the temperatures have plummeted.I managed to plant my bare root rose yesterday . It’s been standing in the porch for a few days .I am staying indoors today. I have been off colour for a few days it’s probably a bug .

I have fed the birds and it's freezing outside. I have to venture out for my hair cut this afternoon someone it's warmed up a little by then.
Busy, can't believe it will be time to return to the UK next week for you, where has that time gone!

@Biglad, good idea to use an old fashioned alarm clock and better still, turn off the iphone overnightπŸ™‚πŸ˜‰

Afternoon all. A day of hanging around today awaiting delivery of a new washing machine. Old one conked out on Monday and I was going to get somebody to repair it - but then I realised that at 23 years old, it was probably well past washing machine retirement age. Fortunately there are lots of deals to be had on domestic appliances at this time of yearπŸ™‚Β

Been very cold all week and had a bit of snow. No gardening done since Sunday. Need to put my big girl pants on, wrap up warm and get out there!!!

@Biglad - I have my phone set to "Do Not Disturb" from 11pm to 7.30am. That means that it only rings or dings for contacts from the 3 people I would definitely want to hear from between those hours (OH, brother and MIL). They would only be contacting me at that time for a real emergency. All other notifications are silenced.

Topbird, hope the new washer proves a good one. 23 years is a good return on your moneyπŸ™‚ How are the plans coming along for your big break in March? Well, I hope.

Have had my hair cut and it feels much better now. Did a bit shopping afterwards and came home with three carrier bags fullπŸ˜²πŸ˜‰ OH tried out the telescopic ladders this morning to try and open the very old security light unit to get the bulb out. No joy. He couldn't quite get up far enough and the aluminium ladders really wobbled a lot. Rather nerve racking watching him and he didn't like it either. As it's an electric light we are going to try and get a security light installer to change the units and put new ones up for us. For the time being, I think we'll just get a small battery operated sensor motion light for us for when we nip out to the bin on a night. It's very dark in the back garden at this time of year and we don't want to fall.Β
