@Red maple - I was sorry to read your sad news - condolences to you and your family
I have also been taking down decorations and they're now all over the dining table waiting to be packed up. Missing the fairy lights and greenery on the mantel piece.
It's been quite chilly today and it started raining again this afternoon. Think we might be having some drier but colder days this weekend so will, hopefully, be able to get out in thegarden again soon.
This was the main route out of our village yesterday afternoon. Not a mega or dangerous flood - but deep enough to damage your car. There was a car stranded in the middle of the road from about 4pm yesterday until late this morning.... Much worse elsewhere. Hope everyone on here is ok.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Topbird, that looks awful as do other places across the country. We've had rain today but nothing to create such conditions. Son had to take his old phone home as the new one was still downloading pics and data so will take a while. I had a full on morning, dinner and after playing non stop with 23..great fun but great tiredness afterwards😲🙂 He's a lovely lad and a giggler, which makes me laugh. Cactus was in action again too.
Parts of my lane look like that T'Bird though probably not as deep. This is a picture of part of the bottom end of my back garden:
Spot the underwater pond. On the right of the picture is part of the path that goes down to my shed and the compost bins beyond. I cannot even get down there as the mud which has been washed from the garden has turned the pathway into a treacherous slippy, slidey trap. The poor plant pots, which I had to rescue, may have lost all of their contents. I wonder if the garden will ever be dryish enough again.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
I'm almost finished for the day. Although I did sneak out for half an hour this afternoon when it actually stopped raining! Shifted any pots that looked waterlogged - I could well have a collection of mush by the time we get to some warm, dry conditions. Bit more weeding - the ground was pretty soft
It doesn't sound or look good all around the country - that photo is definitely Marti @Ladybird4
On the plus side, I haven't bothered watering the newly-planted apple trees
Evening Biglad. At least watering the apple trees is one job you can cross off your 'to do' list. I am signing out for tonight See you all in the morning. Enjoy what's left of your evenings.

Gosh LB, your poor garden is awash😬 What a shame, I reckon that will take some time to drain away. Don't be going down there until it's all dried up. I hope some plants can be retrieved. Its just as well I have a pre-booked dental appointment for next week, I've just lost a chunk of filling😢 Signing out for now. Night all.
Good morning all. We have had rain here but nothing like your photos thankfully. It’s dry this morning which is good because today is my early start at work. These cold dark mornings waiting for the bus are bad enough without rain too.
Good morning Debs and all. I do not envy you having to go to work so early Debs, and waiting for a bus would not be my idea of fun! Is the work situation any easier after some of the turmoil of last year?
Hazel, I am at the Dentist next Wednesday and yesterday, out of the blue, I got a text from my GP surgery to say that they have made a telephone consultation for me with the Practice Pharmacist. Last October/November I had to take my BP readings twice a day for a week, wait a week then repeat. I'm assuming it may be vaguely related to that. Time will tell. Only thing is, they have made the consultation for the same day as my Dental appointment! I am hoping I will be able to fit them both in. The dental 'below the gumline' cleaning is at 08:30 and the telephone consultation is at 10:30. Your mention of buses brought that to mind Debs!

Oh my goodness, just watching the news and the dramatic scenes of the flooding further south than me are horrendous. I do hope that all forum members are safe.
Ante, are you having such heavy rain where you are?
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
@Ladybird4 at least the buses I use are fairly frequent so I didn’t have too long to wait and it’s dry. Flooding is a fear of mine I always choose to live near the top of a hill maybe it’s a subconscious thing.
