Hello from France. I got back to a warm house, CB had lit the wood burners this morning and then came back this afternoon to put more logs on them. I had trouble opening the front door to the kitchen shutter. I unlocked it but it's wooden and had swelled with all the rain there had been. Luckily I had the key to the utility room door so I could get in. I unlocked the kitchen door and kicked the shutter open! I've got milk and bread out of the freezer. The drive home was uneventful, the car started first go.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Busy bienvenue Γ la maison. With a few more days of the log burner being on the wood should shrink again to allow easier access. Great news that the car started straight away.

Exactly @Ladybird4 - like digging a hole on a beach!
Presumably, it's just a small area where a 1970s builder dumped a wheelbarrow of sand and an drainage pipe offcut. I wasn't prepared to dig any more holes to check though!
Rubee, sorry to hear that you fell, but it's good that nothing is broken. Take a rest a much you can.
Bussy, nice to hear that you arrived safely to France.Β
I'm finished for today, all chores are done, tree is decorated, and I even managed to bake. Now is time to rest a bit. It's Home alone on tv, so it' means that Christmas is really here.
Made the hole a lot deeper/wider than the rootball and used some soil improver (manure-based), 'normal' clay soil and home-made compost when back-filling. Fingers crossed that it takes well enough in that mix.
Biglad, crikey, that hole Β doesn't look very wellπ±Hope all the new stuff you've added will aid drainage and make for good growth for the plant. Busy, glad to hear you're home safe and sound and that CD had lit the burner and the place was nice and warm for you. Hope the door contracts enough eventually for normal opening. Ante, last week for school so deep breath, get through it and then let the festivities beginπ Rubee, how are you feeling today? Any better after your fall?Β LB, hope you've been okay today?Β Signing off for today. Night all.Β
Good morning all not read back you are all busy bunnies as usual.Β
Hectic weekend but very pleasant and festive.Β
Christmas jumpers all week at work ( I wear a t shirt) and our Christmas buffet starts Wednesday! We need all the help we can get at the moment itβs so busy.
Good morning Debs and all to arrive soonish. Sounds as though you are a hardy perennial Debs - 'a t-shirt'! Brrrr makes me cold just thinking about it.
Hazel, I just miss her.
