Sorry to hear bad news about your daughter @Lizzie27, hopefully she'll get something soon, but happy to hear she can enjoy some time off for Christmas. A shame about your dad @AuntyRach, but at least you've a good doctor for him.Â
My Christmas cake orders are coming in thick and fast now, I do wish people would order earlier, so much better if they're made sooner, but hey ho.
We've a group in today for Christmas dinner, all French and having a mixture of French and English cuisine, I've a buffet party to cater for tomorrow, 25 of them and next Tuesday have a full blown English Luncheon for 50, so all go. We're also hosting a Christmas Wreath making Workshop on Monday, luckily we haven't got to do much, apart from sweep up afterwards.Â
My two 'ladies' came on Wednesday as arranged, thank you all for your wise words. I did end up going over to the pub (it's literally next door) to discuss the disco arrangements, it was so difficult to refuse without feeling rude. They are not friends, but equally not people I don't know other than in a professional capacity. Luckily, the two 'ladies' had a lot of stuff in common to discuss, so I was able to leave them to it and get back home for my dinner without offending anyone. Can't help but admire them to a point, so difficult to do what they are doing, they must truly believe they have no alternative to put themselves up for ridicule, so many people are not accepting or kind towards them.Â
Anyway, toilet fixed and DJ booked for my 60th birthday party in January.Â
Back to cake making....
Have a good day all.Â

Good morning all. Â A shout out to @Pat E Â Coooeee!!
Some rain during the night. Â Nothing to see here folks - as usual!!
I was sorry to hear about your Dad's heart problems @AuntyRach  It seems that your GP has the problem in hand.  And @Lizzie27  Not the right time of the year to be made redundant.  Something better will come along in the new year, I hope.  Pretty mean-looking sort of a tool @Allotment Boy  and lovely photos of your area  @Badly_Maintained   Today is a day for the Marys on this site:
foggy and even greyer this morning. But I have aquagym and then christmas market lunch with friends, better wrap up warm.
Sorry to hear about your daughter @Lizzie27. I hope she enjoys the time off for the moment and leave all for the next year where I am sure she will find another job. I am in a similar situation with my son in London who is having difficulties getting a job, or rather the job he is after, he is a very shy guy, an introvert really, and a scam on Linkedin has done some damage even if he hasn't fallen for it. Just another knock to his confidence. Some good news regarding your brother. And yes quite the finale for Shetland, I did suspect incest but not with brother. đ§ I love the scenery, one day ....
today is indeed the Immaculate conception @tui34. As a kid I always wondered how the baby was born only after 3 weeks đ€
All is solved and arranged @D0rdogne_Damsel. Good news. I must ask you where is your chateau, probably a day's drive from Luxembourg but it would be nice to see a bit of France.
Thats some storm brewing @Pat E. Here it is back to grey and miserable after a brighter start. I donât think the rain is too far away.
Glad your meeting with your two workmen/ladies went well @D0rdogne_Damsel. Yes, they are brave - there is still a lot of prejudice and lack of understanding out there. I hope it works out all for the best for them and their families.
The cake is made, and the kitchen smells divine. It seems to have baked well. Once it cools a bit, it can have a feed and then be wrapped up ready for Christmas. Unlike the rich fruit Christmas cakes, it doesnât need making weeks before for it to mature.
Yes, there is a special Gardeners World programme on tv tonight @Badly_Maintained.
Glad to hear you have managed some toast today @punkdoc and that Moira has got up. Hope it wonât be long before youâre feeling stronger.
I hope your daughter enjoys Christmas and then finds a better job @Lizzie27. Â
We enjoyed dinner with friends last night. We had a tasty beef casserole.
Went to bed late and woke up late to sunshine. We've been in the garden. OH mowed up leaves and I dug up an enormous dahlia which I'm going to give to the man who looks after this garden when we are in France.

I hope everyone has a pleasant day.
