  • Glad you’ve eaten summat @punkdoc  … onwards and upwards, but don’t rush it. Same to Moira … take things very steady.

Wonky’s car now has a new set of matching wheels with tyres, and the mechanic thinks he’s sorted the battery charging problem 🤞. Now all we need is for poor Wonky and her a lovely Hub to recover so they can get back to work … of course this lurgy has triggered Mr Wonky’s Sickle Cell to play up so he’s having a rotten time …  😢

OH and I have had a busy day so far … we set out for the farm shop only to realise that we’d left the Christmas order on the sofa so had to come back and get it. When we’d done the shopping we were halfway back when we realised we’d not handed over the Christmas order so had to go back with it.  I’m blaming OH for distracting me 😉

Just when I thought things were getting better, have just been told my near neighbour the judge, who I have been friends with since we moved here, died this morning. He was in hospital following a cystectomy and Moira and I had been supporting his wife, until we got ill.

  • Oh @punkdoc I am so sorry to hear that … I know you and he enjoyed each other’s company. Our sincere condolences … our thoughts are with all who loved and cared for him.

That is so sad, @punkdoc. Glad that you are starting to get some food down though, small step in the right direction.
Sorry to hear that Mr Wonky has had a sickle cell flare up, hope he recovers quickly and the pain subsides soon.
Lovely day here after all the rain. The local flooding has subsided well, it was mainly run off from the already waterlogged fields, although several local rivers have burst their banks this week. I went to a Christmas lunch in a seaside hotel, with a local group I’m a member of. Actually a very nice meal considering that there were at least 60 of us, not too canteen like. Definitely nothing to eat for me this evening.
Ive cleared a space in the living room for the Christmas tree, so that will be a job for the weekend. As usual, green bin day has sneaked up on me, only four days to get the two bins filled. Last collection before mid January, so I’ll have to make an effort. Very hard to summon up much enthusiasm when it’s been so miserable out. I could certainly take some leaves off the grass, and there are always loads of overgrown shrubs needing a good cut back. I’ve given up trying to prune at the right time, most stuff seems to have recovered from my erratic attention. A lot of stuff is supposed to be pruned in the same rather short window, and would require 48 hour days for me to comply!

    Afternoon all,

My condolences @punkdoc, seems folks are falling like ninepins at the moment, must be the time of year.

Thanks folks for your good wishes for my daughter. She was quite upbeat when I spoke to her last night, hope it lasts.

That looks a nasty storm @Pat E, hope you'll be ok.

Glad your dilemma was solved @D0rdogne_Damsel but don't envy you all that Christmas cooking. I've only just bought my mincemeat!

Met my friend for coffee at Hilliers because they had a sale on packs of bulbs, all reduced to £2. Thought it worth a punt so bought 3 packs, tulips, scilla and hyacinths.
It was brilliant sunshine when I left home but poured with rain suddenly whilst we were in the cafe - and I'd hadn't got my spare umbrella in the car!

Time to put the dinner in, roast chicken portions tonight so I can gain more space in the freezer.

We are ok, thanks, but of course it was extremely noisy and we lost power, so we sat here with a candle in the living room. No tv. 😳, shock horror.  We were reduced to reading novels. Anyway, after I’d eventually gone to bed, the power company turned up and fixed the tripped thingo on the power pole. Alls well now.  This morning, you’ve never know what an evening we’d had. It was very noisy out there.  It’s sunny and quiet now. 😁😁

Tui, I meant to respond to your message before the power went off. I can’t remember the last time I heard “cooee”.  It was very often used years ago. 😁😁. Lovely memories. Thanks.

Tui, I studied Latin at uni, but not French unfortunately, (prehistory and Archaeology), so I’m glad for your little French translations.

DD, as always, your energy amazes me. I don’t know how you do it.

Whew, it’s really hot outside and Hubby and I have just finished hanging out the washing. I’m glad to be back inside.  He has just loaded the Ute with the rubbish for the tip. I’m glad it’s him and not me.😒

Interestingly, the rain gauge only recorded 7 mils of rain from that storm last night. It’s hard to believe. It was lashing around the house with very loud thunder and big lightning strikes all around us.  Who can predict?

Hello @Pat E, I woke up early this morning (it's 7.30 am here) so just browsing on internet, OH is still asleep. Glad you're both ok after that big storm, sounds quite frightening, I don't like thunder and lightening storms at all. Must have got that from my mother who was petrified. She used to draw all the curtains, shut the doors, covered the mirrors and unplugged everything, including the phone when she was a widow so I could never phone her to ask her if she was ok!

We've got stormy conditions here, forecast is for heavy rain all day so not looking forward to going out.
