No damage here other than a few branches down off very old trees and my Meyer lemon blow over. There is, however plenty of flooding and beaches anddunes re-arranged along the coast and its inlets with plenty of breaches to the coastal marshland.
Two dead and 47 injured up in the north of France and lots of trees down plus damage to homes and businesses. Powerlines down in several area and > 250,000 homes with no leccy.
Access to the coast has been closed, in some places till the 7th, but I expect there'll still be some bozos putting themselves and rescue services in danger.
Another big storm due over Saturday night and Sunday so another sleepless night for many. The last big storm here was 3 years ago and we had a tornado pass thru and strip the roof panels and many beams from our two barns so it's a bit stressful now but my heart goes out to people losing lives or with damage to their homes.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

I really don't like all the news companies kicking out stories about people cycling and canoeing through flood waters. The water is likely full of sewage. Not so romantic and rather daft to expose yourself to it in order to go to the pub. It's just a photo op.
It's like all the pics of idiots standing on the beach/seafront/bridge as water threatens to engulf them. Enough people mangle themselves each year looking for selfie spots.
We got off lightly here. The flood plains are flooded, but not as bad as in the previous storm. More rain forecast for tomorrow though. There is a 2-day craft fair this weekend - those just doing the Saturday are worried. I'm booked in for the Sunday.
Saw the horrendous footage on the news @Kili - hope that's the worst of it over for you now.
Thanks @didyw I got off easy compared to many others. 112 families currently homeless and staying in hotels I believe. Only Losing 18 panes of glass from the greenhouse compared to what's happened around me I cant complain. It turns out a tornado hit the east of the island where most of the damage occurred and ran amok down there.

Tornadoes are absolute b*stards @Kili. The one we had did huge damage but, thankfully, only a bit to the house and it took months to go thru the process of insurance and clearance. Took us a while to get over the shock and we weren't left homeless.

@Obelixx I empathise with regard to insurance companies. You need the patience of a saint when dealing with that lot. I had to deal with an insurance company for a loss of earnings claim and sent all documentation proving my claim. Then it started: the offer to pay x amount less than the claim, the offer to pay less my tax rate. Fortunately, I had a friend who was a lawyer, and he advised, "Send them a registered, signed for letter giving them two weeks to pay up, or else you would not accept any offers after that date and would be taking them to court for the amount requested plus costs." He correctly surmised that they would pay rather than go to court as they had no case not to and wouldn't want to incur court costs, and I received payment within two weeks. A small victory, but one wall savoured.

@Kili - the estimate to repare our barn roofs with original style wooden beams etc plus repairs to the stonework came in at 36000€.
Insurance chappy, when he finally turend up, declared them to be agricultural buildings and subject to something called vétusté - usage by age and time - and gave us 11000€. Had they been declared as part of the house, we'd have got the full amount but who knew?
Both are open ended on the north side so OH used his to house his munching machine and stores of wood needing storage or waiting to be chipped. I used mine as a potential party barn but also a glorified potting shed for sheltering new plants, seedlings, divisions etc from the worst of the summer sun. Not worth the extra funds needed to top up the insurance offer.
We spent half on some chaps in to remove the remaining bits of twisted roof and clear all the crud which had been flung around the plot and bought a new sit-on mower as our old one had just died. The fallen beams now form edges to the newest raised beds in the potager.

A non event here @ inland E-Sussex. Having followed the various models closely over the past week (GFS / ARPEGE / ECM etc...) I was fooled into expecting something a little more interesting.
The Met Office's METO model wins the day again with a very accurate prediction more than 24 hours in advance. Its short term modelling has consistently proved that its heads and shoulders above the others.
Hello @mcrazz, I wondered if you could point me to the Met office's METO model please? I need a reliable source for predicting the weather. I looked but cannot find it.
Sorry to witness the demise of the forum. 😥😥😥😡😡😡I am Spartacus

No worries.
It's paywalled on a lot of sites as the Met Office make a lot of their income in selling short range forcasts, but the following link should work...
You can quickly select between the different models on this site too which is quite neat. I wouldn't take much notice of anything over 120hrs unless you're trying to spot wider trends.
