Luddite update: seeing stuff on the TV about the nightmare of smart meters - more tech that I have no need for and don't want. I get a steady stream of texts, calls and e-mails pestering me to arrange an installation date, which I will ignore until legally obliged Β
I've had enough issues with energy companies without adding opportunities for more problems. Coincidentally, I've just been sent by latest bill. Despite my regular as clockwork meter readings submissions, they still insist on my direct debit being higher than the bill for a winter month, when the heating is on every day.Β
Good morning Debs, SGL, Ruby, Hazel, Busy, Biglad and Pauline.
Debs, I am a big IKEA fan too. Just love mooching in their store but the one in Gemini gives me claustrophobia as I get lost in their first floor area. Still go though.
Busy, I have a Royal Mail account and I buy my stamps online. It was a friend who tipped me off about ordinary stamps as I use my account to print my own stamps for my overseas cards.
Biglad and Pauline I flatly refuse to have a smart meter. My Bestie has one and it NEVER works. Saving you energy - pah! If I want to USE energy I do and I don't mind reading my meters every month either.
p.s. and they even persuaded handy brother to have one when he invented the Luddites and does not use technology at all - doesn't even possess a mobile even though we have tried for years to get him to use one.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
You'll get there @rowlandscastle444, it takes time to unpack the boxes but it can be exasperating Β too. We won't have a smart metre either. They are a waste of time and space and I would end up doing what my SIL has done and that is to put it in a drawer! I can just imagine some folks getting paranoid looking at the thing and worrying themselves silly about how much fuel they're using. Life is too short.
Ruby you weren't there when I posted. I see you and Hazel are with the 'No to smart meters group'!
I think 'Stupid Meters' are a more appropriate name.
@rowlandscastle444 you can have my hot metal object as it was last used 7 years ago and admittedly some of its plastic parts have perished but I do think it still works π€

No plans for today, apart from buying stamps and wielding the hot flat metal thing.
Marti is back here as well.

I anticipate it being found at some stage.Β
But I have found the slow cooker. It was in the box marked "pictures, cups and saucers, jam making equipment, egg cups".
How logical is that!!?
