I was going to walk to church this morning but went outside and it was raining and only 2C so Courage failed and I took the car. There is only a 2 monthly service there, waiting for a new vicar.
I was writing C cards yesterday and realised I hadn't heard from an old friend from years ago when we shared a flat in London. I hadn't her phone number here so I sent an email. She replied to say her OH had died. They'd had a bad time in the few months up to his death. Sad, he wasn't much older than my OH. So I've been feeling gloomy today and sad for her.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Busy, I'm so sorry to hear your friends news, very sad. It will have been a shock for you. Red Maple, good luck to your OH for tomorrow. Hope the operation goes well, I had the same Β many years ago and it all went fine. Just a bit awkward for a couple of weeks afterwards without the use of one hand. Fingers crossed all is well for him.Β
@Red maple, you just described my weather down to a tee. I could not believe it when it started to rain. I was just on my way across to see Jack with a big piece of cake when I felt the first drops and by the time I was coming back home it was much heavier. Sensible to wait to put the lights up - better not to risk an accident.
Hazel, good news about getting sorted with a new hot metal thingie. The lighter weight will be kinder on your arm and shoulder.
@Biglad, that really surprised me about the racing in Carlisle after all that was said on TV this morning.
@debs64 I bet the food was delicious at the buffet and I hope this afternoon was filled with tea, lots of cake and plenty of hot gossip.
Busy, I was saddened to read the news from your friend but I bet hearing from you will have lifted her spirits just a tiny bit
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
A very good morning one and all. All frost and snow gone, replaced by rain. I hope you are all safe wherever you are in the UK. I always try to catch the headlines first thing - avoiding the harrowing stories - and I feel awed and humbled by all the people, who have turned out to support Kevin Sinfield in his 7 Marathons epic to raise awareness and funds to help in the further study of MND. Kudos to the man!

Good morning all. We have heavy rain but I am grateful itβs not snow. So pretty but such a nightmare to travel in.Β
Work today and then a trip to Ikea to stock up on a few bits, I love their big church candles to use in my lanterns and I want to have a mooch in their Christmas shop. I find if we go after work about 6.30 itβs not so hecticΒ
Morning. Raining here and much of the snow has gone thankfully. It is also a lot milder although still cold. Wrap up if you're going out folks and don't forget the umbrella.
