Debs, my guess about "international" buffet brings to mind fusion food. Little nibbles of sushi, sesame prawn toast, vol au vents, cocktail sausages, cold Italian meats. I look forward to hearing from you what turns up.
Yes - just watching an item about the "cyber incident" on the "provider of cloud computing services to 100s of law firms". That sentence sets my teeth on edge and makes me want to press the opt out button. All these advances that make things better/quicker/cheaper seem to be just another avenue for the evil scrotes of the world to infiltrate/exploit/profit from larger and larger numbers of innocent folk.
A small (but growing) part of me would quite cheerfully close all online accounts, withdraw from social media and have a bonfire made up of all the laptops, mobile phones, plastic cards and any other 'tech' in the house. I would undoubtedly be healthier and happier.

My teeny tiny real tree that I got last year has been growing happily in a pot outside all this year so I think it will be brought in again as I do like the smell of pine. Hey, and if you are going to have a mug of tea - the bigger the better in my view.

Crikey, I wouldn't. There are aspects of it that I don't like but without it we couldn't chat on here, order plants and other stuff online, plan our journeys with Google maps, chat to our families on What's App, call for rescue when the car breaks down etc. I found my house in France online so didn't have to pay huge agents' fees.

It looks bitterly cold outside. I enjoyed the church friends party last night, fewer people than usual, but masses of delicious nibbles. Some people didn't come because of the horrid cold that is going round and others didn't want to go out in the cold. It was -2C at 8.30pm when I left, had to defrost the car. I was the first to leave.
I have finished my cards to French friends and family, need to buy stamps. I expect the price will be a shock. I didn't have everyone's addresses here, but I had their phone numbers so I had 3 nice chats with friends in France. Also with my brother in Scotland. He had told me that he was moving house after Christmas but it has been brought forward to next week.

Morning. Bitterly cold here, -5 when I popped outside. I couldn't get the lids off the cold frames, they are stuck up. Same with greenhouse door. ( Open) water butts are solid too. Keep well wrapped up if going out today and be careful underfoot. Hats,gloves and scarf weather has arrived. I wrote all our christmas cards out yesterday, list is considerably less as each year goes by, so aim to get them posted next week. I am now regretting the fact that we have to get the radiators flushed out next week. It's a must but it's going to be freezing with the doors open all day.
I agree @Busy-Lizzie - there are aspects of t'internet that I like. However, I detest vast swathes of it. My online shopping is minimal and I'm aiming to do a lot less. I kept getting told, "you need to get on Whatsapp" by friends and was forced into having it for work a couple of years ago. I was right in resisting - I find it to be the equivalent of somebody flicking my ear when I'm concentrating
To be fair, I would keep my sat nav/dashcam, so never use my phone or laptop for route planning. However, I'm also strongly considering not having a car so that could go then as well
