Morning Busy - tee hee its your age! I do exactly the same type of thing when talking to handy brother on the phone. I must tell him the same news at least twice every time! I begin to sound like that actor long long ago on Coronation Street whose character used to repeat himself - think he was called Fred. Maybe some people will recognise who I mean. It must have been pleasant meeting up with your friend for a cuppa yesterday. Lots to catch up on I'm sure.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Good morning everyone . Ante sorry to read you had such a bad night. As LB said it is good that your dads boat is safe ,a great pity about the ones that sunk .Busy good look with your Mammogram.Enjoy your time with your daughter .LB and Busy we used to know an old lady who lived near our home .She was lovely but if we were in a rush we tried to avoid her .She would tell us the same things over and over again .Also she would tell us every jot and tittle about what she was going to do with contents of her shopping basket. She was a real sweetly so if we were not in a rush we would stop to talk to her .
Popping into town this morning to take some clothes etc to the charity shop and to pick up a prescription at chemist. After that, my hunt for a wee X*** tree for mum will continue and I will have a good browse around what shops we have left for one. I also need to pick up some more wool, I'm nearly Β out.Β Have a good day everyone whatever you do.
another dreich (miserable, @Ante1 - a Scottish saying)Β day here, so indoors beckons. I canβt go far anyway as the car has been collected for its service and mot this morning. Iβm glad I chose that option, as I wouldnβt have fancied taking it to the garage myself in this weather and then hanging around for several hours waiting for it to be done.
Yes, we have storm Ciaran on the way this week, beginning tomorrow night, so will check that everything is safely battened down. However, this time round itβs the south of the country that looks as if it is going to have the brunt of it, although we wonβt escape completely here. The problem is that the ground around and the hills above are already saturated from last week, so the water has nowhere to go, plus people are still clearing up from being flooded, so more heavy rain is the last thing needed right now. Iβm glad that your Fatherβs boat was ok @Ante1, but how awful for the owners of the ones that sank.
Ruby, I smiled at your description of a 'jot and tittle' - so brilliantly expressive!
Hazel I hope you were successful in your tracking down of a little tree.
Red maple - I hate strong and persistent winds. Its unnerving being in bed and hearing the roof tiles rattling. Fingers crossed Ciaran blows himself out - and soon.
@Biglad thats the one. Have you been in touch with your dentist yet?
Busy, I am sure that you will survive the ordeal. I think we of a certain age have been there, done that and got the tee-shirts.

Just dropping in briefly. I've been busy with trying to sort out the house move. Due to exchange contracts next week - and now been told I need to be in the hospital at that time.Β Been packing boxes - and found that I can't access the forum on my mobile phone for some reason. When I try to sign in, it comes up with some message about a critical error with WordPress. It means nothing to me, so I am relying on the desktop for access.
I'll be up in the spare room when I get any spare time. Just wanted you to know I'm still around.

Way before my time @Ladybird4, but do you mean the butcher, Fred Elliott, played by John Savident. I say, do you mean the butcher, Fred Elliott
