SGL, we don't sleep well at the best of times, but yes, this turning back the clocks messes even that up for a while. Take it easy today( as I am doing). LB, the situation abroad is horrendous indeed. All over the world is such discontent over one thing or another and unfortunately, lots of innocent people get caught up in the crossfire of it. It's awful.
@Songbird-2 I have a calendar too, hanging in the kitchen. Everything is written on it.
OH has lit the wood burners so house is cosy. It's been raining. Should be a bit better this afternoon then heavy rain for the next few days.
I was hoping to tidy up first OH's grave and put a pot of chrysanths on it, as the French do. It's been so wet and my tooth has caused problems so I only have this afternoon to do it before the 1st November, French custom. It's in my old village, over an hour away but I could have a cuppa with a friend there. 1st November is a bank holiday.
Tomorrow I have an appointment for a Mammogram then we are going to my daughter, near Poitiers, for a couple of days.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Busy, goodness, it's all happening with you at the moment. I hope you manage to get to first OH's grave to put some nice chrysanthemum's on it. Are you only allowed to put those particular flowers on graves in France? That really has reminded me that we need to get to Oh's parents grave and tidy up for winter and put some new ( artificial) flowers on there. No use putting fresh flowers on at this time of year here, as they would get ruined very quickly. Good luck tomorrow with the mammogram, chest squashing time😱😬 I could hardly breathe the last time I had one.
Sons car has broken down on him this morning. He's had a long wait for the recovery truck to arrive and is now on its way to the garage. OH has gone to pick son up and take him back home.
I've given a Griselinia a light prune ( it's in front garden) as it was starting to grow out and encroach upon next doors' driveway. It was bitterly cold, my hands were red raw when I came in afterwards.
Busay, we have the same tradition here, and with same flowers. I bought chrysanths today. Hope you will have a nice time with your daughter.
Hazel, it's of course allowed to put any flowers, but chrysanthemums are traditional, and they are now in bloom. Hope you will be able to visit your Mum.
Cloudy and warm day, but luckily dry. I had a reasonable good day, despite it's Monday. We had a nice lunch and chat yesterday.
Good afternoon all. That is a lovely tradition, putting chrysanthemums on loved ones graves and yours look really special Ante.
Busy, I hope your mammogram is just standard procedure. I am sure you will have a joyous time with your daughter.
I am saying an early good evening today as I am quizzing tonight in Bolton. Need to polish up the brain cells! See you all in the morning. Enjoy your evenings.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Have a good time tonight LB, hope the brain is in gear🙂 I'm off for today too. OH will be watching footy later so I'll find something else to watch ( on other TV) and do some more knitting. The wool I picked up from last visit to mums is knitting up beautifully soft so may have to keep this blanket for myself when it's done. lAnte, those are gorgeous chrysanthemums and wonderful colours. I bet their perfume is lovely. Our garden chrysanthemums are in full bloom ( but rather battered with all the wind and rain) and the lovely colour of Autumn, burnt orange/brown. I've put a hyacinth bulb into the glass holder the other day, along with some early crocuses. They are snugly away in the dark in a cupboard for now to try and force them on to grow. Hopefully there will be enough growth on them for X*** time. Have a good evening everyone and let's hope the sleep pattern is finding itself nearly back to normal for us all.
I went and tidied up first OH's grave and put a pot of yellow chrysanthemums, like the ones in @Ante1's photo, on it. My son will go on Wednesday. I had a cup of tea with my friend in the village too. Her OH is in the same cemetery.

I had sleepless night. Storm with extremely high wind passed over us. For the first time I wasn't comfortable listening the wind. At 2am I went to port just to see is my father boat secured. Luckily it was all fine, but three other boats are sunken. Now is sunny, but still with high wind. After school I'll visit cemetery with my mum.
Goodness me Ante - dare I say good morning to you after what sounds like a scary time? It seems as if storms are going to be more common than in the past and it can be a worrying time. I'm pleased that your Dad's boat was safe but feel sorry for the other boat owners. I hope there is not too much damage in your garden and at the cottage. From today's weather report Storm Ciaran will be hitting us tomorrow and the next two days are looking quite dreadful.

The rain held off enough to go and tidy first OH's grave. It is covered with Ceratostigma and it was looking quite pretty with red autumn leaves and old flower head but I pulled it all up as it will look awful later. Usually by now it's gone black. When I did the grave years ago I covered it with weed surpressant fabric, then gravel and planted alpines and one small ceratostigma. It's edged with limestone rocks. The c has taken over, apart from a few sedums.
Mammogram late morning, then to Daughter 1 this afternoon.

It sounds a dreadful night @Ante1.
