Ouch, ouch and double ouch @Busy-Lizzie. You'll feel like you've done a few rounds tomorrow but fingers crossed things get better after that. Hope your son is recovered from the ordeal too. Best wishesto you both.

Glad you got the roof sorted Red Maple!

A very good morning one and all!
Red maple, did the roof repair stand up to all of the rain you had yesterday?
I was asked to go across to Jack's yesterday to sign/witness the Power of Attorney forms his granddaughter and daughter had organised. I remember Bestie and I doing ours about 10 years ago. Jack is still looking well which is a good thing and we had a good laugh together.
Apparently today is World Pasta Day - one of my favourite foods I must confess - already planning pasta with chicken and pesto for lunch.

Morning all. Today is double-jab day. Really looking forward to it - not!

Hope SGL is ok and not affected too badly by the rain (think the amber alert is for her part of the world).

    Morning all.

Tooth and jaw area still ache a bit and face is slightly swollen but yes thank you @Rubee. I have pain killers.

Man should have been here 40 mins ago to fit a wood burner in the sitting room fireplace. I hope he comes.

I like pasta too, LB. There are so many things you can add to it. We recently had it with big prawns, fennel, leeks, celery and a bechamel sauce.

    Good afternoon all,

Late posting, I’ve had a busy morning.

Yes, @Ladybird4, the roof seems to have withstood all the rain we had yesterday - a good test for it, so 🀞it’s ok now. I suppose the real test will be when we get another storm blowing from the east. We normally get them blowing from the west, but storm Babet was easterly.Β

It’s a much better day today, and though drizzly earlier, is brighter now. A brief respite, I fear, if the forecast is to be believed.

I didn’t realise it was world pasta day today. We enjoy a variety of pasta dishes, but tonight’s menu is already planned - mussels with French bread to dip in the sauce.

I hope the swelling and ache soon go, @Busy-Lizzie.

Afternoon/evening all. Busy day which is ending on a flickering note ....a lamp in lounge had started flickering a little while ago and as I don't use it a lot, it's been left. However, because the evenings are drawing in it is use a lot more now. True to form, tonight, it's started flickering badly. OH has inspected it, bulb ok, fuse ok so think it's a problem in the plug socket. OH said he will take a look at it it in the daylight so that's another job for him.

I am at the dentist in the morning( hope it's not as bad as Busy's visit😬) then shopping, waiting for a delivery and then popping into town.

It's been raining here nigh on all day so been pretty miserable. Glad your roof is holding out Red Maple.

Hope Rubee and Rosie are feeling a little better today.

I hope the dentist visit went well for you @Songbird-2.Β Β

We are having mussels with French bread too tonight @Red maple! We usually have salad with it but I've cooked veg in the stock that the mussels will be cooked in as they will be softer for my sore mouth.

Wood burner men, father and son, came over an hour late but it is now installed and lit. I'm pleased with it and it looks nice. The sitting room is warmer than usual and the electric radiator has turned itself off.

I've been sorting out kitchen cupboards as I have more cupboard space thanks to the kitchen island. The Kenwood mixer is now in a more accessible cupboard with the Magimix bits and pieces and the hand held electric whisk. I've also cleaned a lot of framed family photos which are now ready to be hung up the stairwell and landing.Β

Tooth has ached a lot this afternoon and face is a bit more swollen so I sat on the sofa and washed Strictly which I'd recorded. I feel slightly nauseated, maybe it's the antibiotics.

I’m there in the morning Busy. I wonder if your mouth is more sore and swollen because you’ve been busy today and will have been moving your head Β up and down with sorting the cupboards out etc. ? Maybe you need to be a little more still until it’s healed? The wood burner sounds really nice and you’ll be cosy and warm in the room now.Β

    Good evening everyone.
Good news about the roof Red maple. It is nice to know that you will be waterproof ready for the Winter to come. I know what you mean about prevailing winds though. I get the westerly direction winds blowing against my front door - ironically named as it is actually on the side of my house.
Hope all goes well at the dentist tomorrow Hazel - as you said perhaps not as stressful as Busy's visit.
Woo hoo Busy. Great news about the installation of your wood burner. You will be lovely and snug. Its uncanny how new cupboards can soon be filled to bursting with 'stuff'. It does make you wonder where everything came from.
Signing out for today. Hope you all enjoy your evenings.
