Good afternoon Forkers! Â A most splendiferous sunny day here. Â A light breeze prevails to dry today's load of washing! Â So much so that I decided to move around some heavy garden furniture (slowly) moving a bench out of the shady pergola and into a sunny spot. Â The sunny spot contained a heavy table with a marble top. Â I shuffled and dragged that away and placed it under the tap so that I now have a bowl for washing vegetables on the table top. Â Nice job, Tui!! Â But now; knee, back and hip playing up. Â R & R with a good book and the cross word for the rest of the day!!
Glad you will enjoy the extra "hour" @AuntyRach   Takes me about a week to get used to the changeover.  Nice blue sky @Pat E , pretty flowers and OH hanging out the washing.  What more could a girl want?!!  Well, maybe a few of @Dovefromabove  's pears!!  They look delicious!!  I am enjoying the seasonal apples at the moment.  Crisp and crunchy!!
@Busy-Lizzie  I hope your tooth socket isn't giving you too much pain today.  Have you got the sunshine too?
Tonight is the big match for rugby lovers and I have been invited to watch it with a young South African couple - I am going with pleasure @punkdoc  I am sure you will be watching - and congratulations to the Roses for coming third.  I honestly didn't think we would get this far - the outcome will be interesting.
Have an enjoyable weekend everyone, I hope it goes well.
Thanks @floralies - but we would need a 12' hoe to reach the far corners of our loft! The bedroom ceilings are in the eaves, hence the small loft space. Dear @Busy-Lizzie - your tooth problems have turned out to be quite traumatic. You are allowed to rest up, so get yourself cosy and comfy and read or watch tv and just relax.
Lovely pear tree @Dovefromabove. I planted one at our old house but it was only a couple of years before we moved so we never benefitted from the pears.
Glad you have more of a spring in your step now @Pat E. Our clocks go back tomorrow so winter is truly on its way. Â
I'm a bit cross. I ordered a hydrangea and some Honorine Jobert anemones from Burncoose Nurseries in late August and was looking forward to seeing them in the bed I had cleared for them which is viewable from my kitchen window. Then I forgot about the order for a while. Contacted them to ask when they would arrive. No response. Phoned a few days ago - no reply. Emailed again and finally got a response. They had 'missed' my order (despite my getting an acknowledgement) and would despatch forthwith. Woke up this morning to an email from the courier company to say that they had failed to get a response and to rearrange delivery. Which I did - but couldn't get a new delivery slot before Tuesday. There was no knock on the door and no card through the letterbox this morning.
Now looking forward to receiving dead plants on Tuesday. if the delivery person actually bothers coming to the house. I suspect they did not today.
It's a hard life, i came outside to drink a cup of tea in the sun. The sun's hot so my feet are roasting, a stink bug has just landed in my hair and a neighbour has just started up his lawn mower but i think i can tolerate it all just to be outside! đ€
Oh dear, poor @Busy-Lizzie. At least you shouldnât have much difficulty getting hold of your dentist! Proves the old saying, donât treat / get treated by your relatives! I gave up treating OH, too stressful, nothing went as smoothly as usual. I didnât find the morphine I was given in hospital much use at all. Didnât even help me sleep. Co-codamol works better for me, so Iâd use that in an emergency, just for a couple of days, and not with any other paracetamol products. Hope you can get that socket dressed soon. How tiresome, @didyw. If the plants turn up looking the worse for wear, Iâd be straight onto the nursery on Tuesday and tell them to send replacements for next day delivery at no charge to you. Bad enough that they forgot you, but they must take some responsibility for less than effective delivery partners. Itâs  raining here. We had an enjoyable walk this morning with occasional patches of sun. A good decision to wear wellies this morning, very muddy underfoot. No gardening this afternoon.Â
The tooth pain eased off this afternoon. Seems what works best is ibuprofen with paracetamol in between. Son dressed my socket yesterday @Ergates for the 2nd time. He's going on holiday next week, visiting family. I spent a lot of the day on the sofa, wrapped in a duvet. OH had lit the wood burner. Watched TV, Question Time and All Creatures Great and Small.
Your sun hardly got here @tui and @floralies, but it didn't rain for a change, hazy sky. I felt better so did an hour's light gardening this afternoon. It was good to be outside, was fed up with sitting on the sofa.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Glad you are feeling a bit better @Busy-Lizzie it's good to be outside weather permitting. We have just come in from having a cup of tea on the terrace, it's still very warm out there. We are making up for all the hot weather during the summer when it was too hot to sit out!
