Poor @coccinella, that’s so unfair. Hope the dental appointment goes well, that’ll be one less thing to worry about.
I think selection of medical students nowadays is supposed to take into account some vital elements like communication skills, and hopefully empathy with patients. Used to be that the most important criteria were top grades, personality of the candidate didn’t come into it. Many I knew were primarily attracted by a fancy to wear a white coat and have the honorary Doctor title, but what would you expect at 18 years old.Ā
Shame you don’t have an option to see another specialist?Ā
  • @cocconella Sorry to hear the treatment isn't working, and it is also sad to hear of your appallingly cold doctor.Ā  I hope for better times ahead for you.

You have my sympathies @coccinella.Ā  I too am on medication for my poorly performing thyroid -Levothyroxine, 100mgs.Ā  But I have noticed lately that my already thin fine hair is thinning even more so I may make an appointment to get my levels checked.Ā  After I tripped and broke my wrist, the year before lockdown, I had a bone scan and they confirmed I have osteoporosis so I'm terrified of tripping and falling again as I would surely break a bone.Ā  But there is no excuse for such a cold consultant.

Congratulations @WonkyWomble - you must be over the moon!Ā  I went a bit nuts buying stuff for each of my granddaughters when they were little - and have kept some of the little clothes as they are so cute.

Day off today.Ā  Well, a bit of back and forth on the do we have tomorrow evening but no going out.Ā  The forecast is fine for the weekend. Will I be able to get into the garden? Fingers crossed!

    Remember this…
ā€ā€¦Ā After I'd phoned Trevor the Plumber about ten days ago about our badly behaved loo cistern, we had a letter from Anglian Water saying they suspected that we had a leak as we appear to be using 1 litre per hour 24/7.Ā oĀ When I told Trevor he was a bit alarmed as he thought that seemed more than we would be losing from the cistern ... however, having replaced the innards of the cistern and a diaphragm thingummy in a pipe, and checked the meter with the various stopcocks open and closed ... and checked around the stopcock under the sink and the one for the outside tap, and not found any damp anywhere he now thinks that it must've been the cistern not shutting off after refilling.Ā Ā crossedĀ He says Anglian Water will soon tell us if we're still using water in the dead of night. Our fingers are crossed that he's fixed the problem. We have a Ā£750 excess on the plumbing insurance following the leak 18 months ago….ā€

Today we’ve had a letter ftom
Anglian Water telling us our water consumption is now back to normal … I texted Trevor the Plumber to tell him … he’s relieved, he says that now he can sleep at night. šŸ˜‰ šŸ‘ šŸ”§ 😓

Evening everybody, quite a quiet day here. OH thinks he's caught covid and has spent most of the day in bed so I walked down to fetch our morning paper. Quite enjoyed the walk, very mild. I did some washing and then some gardening, weeding the wall sleeper bed in the back garden. That's all the flower beds weeded, so I now need to start again in the front garden!

I have made an appointment to see my dentist tomorrow as they had a cancellation. I also had a telephone consultation with the Thrombosis Clinic following my recent diagnosis of blood clots in the lungs. Seems that it was what they called an 'unprovoked' incident' i.e. there was no definitive cause they could find. The bad news is that it puts me at greater risk of a heart attack/stroke and I'll probably have to take blood thinners for the rest of my life. Still, that's a small price to pay to the alternative! Prompted me to see about updating my Will and probably do a Power of Attorney as well.

I also have osteoporosis @didyw, but have fallen several times since without any more broken bones, so it doesn't always follow.

Hope @coccinella's tooth extraction has gone well.

    That's a relief @Dovefromabove.

  • Evening all,

Sorry to hear about illness and toothache and unsympathetic doctors, mine is exactly the same, unfortunately, he is my next door neighbour too, gets very cross about our customers parking in what he considers his spaces and my 'sandwich board' obscuring his view as he exits his car park. I find it very odd that someone so antisocial could have searched out a career that requires being sympathetic to people. The car parking spaces are not his, but public spaces by the way, and if he'd bothered to come and explain the problem with his view rather than calling the Gendarmes I would happily have moved the sandwich board up a couple of metres...

Anyway, I'm packed up and installed at the hotel next to the airport ready to jet off to Crete tomorrow, the clothes are crumpled and probably mis- matched, I've had a last supper with Charlie and painted my nails. Whatever I haven't got done at work won't get done now, but they'll be fine anyway. Going to relax, soak up the sun and enjoy myself. The woes of my world can be forgotten for a week or so.Ā

Hopefully, I'll have some lovely photos to share with you all.Ā

    Goodnight all.Ā

My sympathies @coccinella that is an absolute disgrace. What is the matter with some of these Doctors these days. Hope your dentist visit today has been more successful.

Good news for you @Dovefromabove and apparently a relief for your plumber too.

@Lizzie27, hope your OH hasn't got covid, perhaps it is the flu? Either way just make sure he gets plenty of rest and is not tempted to do too much too soon.

Many congratulations to @WonkyWomble and of course too the new expectant Mum.

Have a wonderful relaxing break away @D0rdogne_Damsel you certainly deserve it.

No rain here today, but some expected for tomorrow and then a heat wave over the weekend they say. When will this weather make up its mind?

Ah @D0rdogne_Damsel! Crumpled, mismatched clothes and painted nails. Excellent! Enjoy your holiday and send us sunset piccies. Have a good time.
Good to hear you have a conscientious and capable! plumber @Dovefromabove

Thank you guys for the kind words. No, the tooth is not out. The maxillo surgeon at the hospital was just an introduction šŸ™„ but at least she was helpful. She can't do it until the 20th of November but has given me another name who might do it quicker so I phoned him. Appointment for the 13th, sent him everything explaining that I want it done on the 13th please. The secretary was helpful and seems to have understood my predicament.Ā
